View Full Version : GB Direct from Kumho Canada, need to identify Quantities.
Hi All,
I've had contact with Kumho Canada courtesy of Henry Ho, and they are guaging interest in how many tires to bring in for 2007.
This is your chance to put in the quantities of how many tires you will need for the up and coming year. This will avoid the "lack of uber tires" from last year and previous years.
Sizes available are:
215/50/13
195/55/14
205/55/14
225/50/14
205/50/15
225/50/15
215/40/16
225/50/16
265/45/16
245/45/17
275/40/17
295/40/17
315/35/17
335/35/17
245/35/18
285/30/18
315/35/18
This is directly through Kumho Canada, their pricing is as follows, final pricing will be provided when orders are finalized.
V710
215/50/R13 $165.00
225/50R14 $185.00
205/50R15 $188.00
225/50R16 $215.00
245/45R17 $230.00
Important, please put your votes in the format below, it will be put on a spreadsheet and forwarded directly to Kumho.
Format Required
Name, Club, Tire Size, Quantity (1 = 1 set or 4 tires), Price
Yes the commas are important.
Thank You
At this point, it's simply to acquire the number of Tires. If you've replied in the SPDA Thread, please do me a favour and don't put your reply here too, it'll make life easier for me.

Not just for me but others at TFbM not on this forum.
265/45/16 1 SET
275/40/17 2 SETS
315/35/17 2 SETS
Did you ask him about their practice of selling old tires in Canada at full racer price?

I realize you are just gauging interest here. One question though, can I buy then my quantity of these tires that I list here at the tire dealer of my choice for this posted price, or will they be available only at one particular dealer for said price and quantity.

What I'm thinking is, Henry Ho will provide a couple of outlets to deal with. But I'll leave that with Kumho. Henry is the marketing director for Kumho Canada, and I'm sure he'll try to direct this through one of their outlets.
I know where you're going with that question, and this GB has nothing to do with the previous retailer.

Actually, the thanks goes out to our friends out west at WSCC (Sue Turner). She got me in contact with Henry, and he's into motorsports through VCMC, so things are changing.
Also, there will be a new eastern rep out here, and I'll make sure I introduce that person to the Directors of CASC. It's great when we can get the attention of one of the hottest tires in the market today.

Hi All,
I forgot to mention that this information gathering session will end next friday, December 22nd. I'll forward all the information to Kumho Canada, and most likely the orders will go to Kumho Korea in early January. Actual GB will most likely be held in Late January or February time frame through the dealers that Kumho provides for us. I'll request multiple outlets to suit our friends in Ottawa, Toronto, and Somewhere in London.
Thank You

Even though it is unlikely I will buy the tires through the group buy (we sell Kumho), I will be looking for:
225/50R15 - 1 set
I woudl expect that Kumho needs to bring in more than the 6 they did last year. They need to import at least 12-16 of this size.
They probably have pretty good history on the 205/50R15s, and they usually have good stock of that size.

It is nice to see that they are trying fix a long standing problem since the V710s were introduced.
Last year, I sent my Kumho V710 tire forecast to the Quebec warehouse and it changed absolutley nothing. By June, the tires had to come in from Tirerack as they were the only ones getting V710s.
If Henry fixes it, it will be great.

Well, we can buy and sell a majority of the tire brands. One of our suppliers is a large Kumho warehouse, and has the ability to sell the competition tires. However, since the tires are going through so many hands, we are not very competitive to sell the V710s.
We don't buy them directly from Kumho, and as you know Carl, it is fairly hard to A) make the little amount amount of money necessary to please our bosses, and B) sell the tires cheap enough so that the majority of competitors would be able to buy them.

Your wording leads me to believe that Kuhmo is bringing in only the number of tires requested in the original thread. Am I correct in believing that anyone who didn't get on the list is out of luck this season?

I'm sure Khumho Canada ordered more then what was listed here... there are other regions in canada that will want tires too...
thekid

^ not to mention there are people that don't come on these forums...
The numbers I acquired from CASC, MCO, SPDA, and various others were all compiled into one list. These are the tires that are allocated specifically for the motorsports users. I don't profess to know what formula's Kumho goes through to perform their ordering, but I'm confident that the people in the tire business know what they are doing.
So, if your name was on the list, there's a 99.9% chance you'll get the tires when we do our GB.
If your name is not on the list, you'll have to wait for other shippments, (maybe), as the initial allotment of tires are slated for the ones that took the time to register.
This GB will go through Tirecraft in the GTA, Casselman in Ottawa, and TBD for Western Ontario.
Hope this helps.

What's going on with the group buy?
On this note, I may be able to help as well with the GB. We are located in the west end of the city, so if it is more convenient for competitors, we are available. Also, we do use couriers every day, so we could ship tires.
I am not sure how the pricing will work, but I would imagine that with some help, the pricing will be as Joe has stated. At the moment, we are right there with the smaller sizes, but as the tires get bigger, the gap widens. We will be closer, assuming Kumho plays nice.
I can give you current stock levels, if you are interested. I am not sure if we are all able to proceed with the orders yet, but possibly.
In discussions with my Kumho distributor, the following V710 quantities are available:

It looks like the ones that are in transit SHOULD be here within the next couple of weeks.

I've been eagerly watching this thread for updates...
Are the various GB retailers positioned to accept orders now? Has a GB price list been established? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I don't think I have been as explicit as I could be, but we at Marcor can sell Kumho V710s.
I will post up a list of the tire prices that I have so far, assuming that I do not have the ability to buy directly from the person that Joe T had originally talked to. The only thing that will affect is the pricing of the larger stuff.
That will be in the Classifieds section, and I will come and post the link here.

If I can ever actually get through to the people at Kumho Canada, I may be able to go a little cheaper, but I will not know until I get a response.

Thanks Pete! You can never be too detailed / explicit for dummies like me. :D
Hi All,
Sorry for the lack of updates, but there have been none. I've been in contact with Henry Ho, as well as our local Kumho representative, so far no answers.
As a matter of fact, even the VCMS (Henry Ho, President) doesn't know when they'll get the pricing.

Hey Marsh,
You are extremely astute.. LOL
It is what it is, and it's a quote directly from Kumho. Talon is awsome to deal with (SPDA Sponsor, plug plug)... ( http://spda-online.ca/modules/news/article.php?storyid=77 )
But it's been a difficult round of information gathering from Kumho, I take no responsibility any pricing, all I'm doing is putting together the information for all to absorbe.

yea i was very surprised when i saw the "discounted prices" and then realized i bought my 275 A6's for cheaper then 245 V710's by almost $30 a tire, when i thought i was going with the Hoosiers would be more expensive.
Either way Kumho didn't have my size so that was my deciding factor.
