View Full Version : re: corner weights in brampton/toronto
where in brampton/toronto, can i get someone to properly set up my car by corner weighting it?
who does this type of service..?
CSC Racing in NewMarket, Mantis Racing in Oakville (um, but they're very expensive!), gotta be a few other places too...
I personally have rented CSC's scales on a Wednesday or Thursday night (which ever they stay open late on) and done the cornering weight myself (when I say myself, I mean with Caius doing the math :) ).
I'll send you a link for a DIY corner weighting technique I now use. It's cheap :)

Is there a significant benefit to doing this? I don't know if Perry ever balanced the car (I suspect he must have at some point).
knowing Perry he would have corner weighted the car, but if you've changed any suspension components that might have altered the ride height then you'll likely need to re-corner weight it.
As far as how significant the benefit is, that's a difficult question to answer. It's all a matter of whether you're trying to extract every last ounce of performance out of your car or if you're still so early on the learning curve that your time/$/energy are better spent focusing on bigger issues like spring rates, tire pressures, alignment settings, etc. The car will be better able to use the entire contact patch of each tire with proper corner weighting and its handling will be better balanced as a result, so it is worthwhile if you find yourself using up all the available grip and are searching for ways to find a bit more.
Put it this way...if you have coilovers on your car it would seem to make sense to me that you'd want to take full advantage of this investment by doing a proper cornering weighting. Scales can be rented at a very reasonable rate from CSC Racing or they can do the work for you at what I assume would be a very fair price. CSC takes good care of their Solo 1 customers.

Thanks for the reply Dave. There hasn't been any change in the suspension since Perry first sold the car to my knowledge and I'm still new enough to this sport that I probably wouldn't even notice the difference... but something to consider in the future.
