August 6th - Holiday Monday, you all have it off again!
Grip events are before drift because the track gets pretty messed after drift.
8-12 will be grip ONLY
cost: $65 per car, 25 for a second driver. Pre Paid
Limit:25-30 cars
12-5 will be drift only
cost: $75 per car prepaid
Limit: 30-35 cars

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Im going to allow 50% deposits. balance due at track.
You can of course sell your spot at any point in time.
All events are RAIN OR SHINE. I really enjoy the rain days, they really test ones skill and you can learn a lot.
All Vehicles MUST be safe.
Any car i deem not track worthly will not be allowed on the track.
Standard rules:
No passing except on straights. Same as the highway:
Pass on the left ONLY after receiving a signal from the vehicle ahead.
Vehicle being passed pulls to the right and slows until passed.
Helmets are required. you can buy one for a couple hundred bucks new, cheaper used.
If you have no track experience you will be required to go for a ridealong with an experienced driver.
please show up before the events begin. It takes time to setup and im sure you want as much time on track as possible.
Prices have marginally increased this time because i opted for insurance this year. I took a huge risk last year.
Prepay is a must this time. There was too much chaos last year with people just showing up. we had 42 cars at one point.
12 cars on the track MAXIUM at any point.
dead slow speed in the pits MANDITORY
and of course at all times please show consideration for the other drivers.
Please post any questions, comments or concerns.
signup will be posted as soon as i get a website going.
Thanks guys
Looking forward to a great 2007 track season.
p.s. I am looking for someone to make me a website.
I am offering a free season to anyone that can make me a site and arrange hosting and what not. Nothing amazing, just simple and tidy.
Please PM me if you are intersted.

open wheel cars allowed?
SHIFT_Disturber
01-06-2007, 06:33 PM
is tehre a sound limit?
Dip240
01-08-2007, 03:52 PM
There is no sound limit, however mufflers are required.
the owner has been getting a lot of shit from the community for the noise.
as for open wheel cars it shouldnt be a problem. as long as you realize that its LAPPING and not competitive racing.

I've been in contact with Dip and will have my dyno on-hand at the May 21st session
Pricing will be as follows...
Option A
$60 for 2 baseline runs, wideband o2 and one printout
$25 per additional pull (so that you can test-and-tune-and-test again)
Option B
$100 for unlimited access to the dyno (in 2-pull increments)
Hows that for some awesome dyno pricing!?!
Please remember to bring you lugnut keys...I use a Dynapack dyno which means your drive wheels must come off.

So your going to let 3 foot tall open wheel cars and closed cock pit street sedans (often driven by complete rookies) on the track at the same time?
Dip240
01-09-2007, 06:47 PM
you have a point marsh, i was thinkin about that today.
Maybe its a better idea to not.
Sorry

I hate being "that guy" but somebody has to be. Now if you have enough open wheel cars you can make an open wheel group. I suggested this for two of our lapping days last year and the only request I got to run were from our own members (all 2 of them). You can't shut down the track and hand it over to just two cars with only 4 hours of track time.
Dip240
01-10-2007, 07:22 PM
it was just shot down by the track owner
sorry

I understand the concerns, and I didn't really expect to get a green light on this, but I thought I'd try.
I fully appreciate the dangers involved, and i would probably be terrified myself, but for the fact that over 15 years driving heavy transport trucks, I learned to be very mindfull of others on a roadway and to be very defensive. But again, I understand the concerns. Others in a similar vehicle and with much less driving experience, would not likely be as aware of potential dangers, would likely get inot trouble and thereby cause trouble for the whole racing community. I don't want that.
Thanks anyways.

Thanks for all the hard work Derek.
I think with some of the less experienced drivers it would be frustrating and dangerous for an open wheel car, especially with all the gravel problems we've had.
Hey Marsh any upgrades this year? Bye the way you owe me a windshield..
Knew i should've just passed you.
Oh and thanks for the dyno. Can't wait to show my all of 90 rear horse dyno plots to the boosted guys.

Hey, get they guy in the camaro to fix my fender and I'll fix your windshield. :p
I've got shocks and trying to finagle my way into another set of 13"s for track duty.

Here are some observations:
I attended a combined 'grip' + 'drifting' day last October
@ TMP. The 'grip' part of the day went poorly. The track
ended up being covered in crap. In particular, things were
falling off of and out of the 'drifters' cars that ran with the
lappers. Additionally, the presence of the 'drifters' attracted
folks who hadn't been on a track before (to see 'the show'
and to give it a whirl). Some of these cars were not prepared
adequately and as a result they put down some really neat
fluids and other things: screwdrivers, license plates, brake
ducts. Finally, the nature of 'drifting' put a LOT of track-
side landscaping onto critical parts of the track surface
(n.b. at the entry to the pit stretch, where the concrete
wall starts).
And then there was the down-time associated with the
numerous track clean-ups. Congratulations to the hard
working TMP staff... they were brilliant but far too busy.
They actually RAN OUT OF OIL-DRY at about 3PM .
I've never seen that before at a 'lapping day' (or any
race, for that matter).
My point (at last): First, this MOST CERTAINLY IS NOT
a slam against drifting, or 'newbies', or pickled herring for
that matter;). Rather, I'm posting so the all future 'grip' +
'drift' event organizers can better appreciate the special
requirements of staging combined events. Second, this is
to offer congratulations for cleverly splitting the day up
into separate halves (the 'grip' and 'drift' sessions ran
alternately @ TMP... big mistake). And third, I'd like to
offer a suggestion: Let the 'drifters' go out in the morning.
The track is colder and less grippy in the AM... possibly
better for 'drifting' ? Certainly non-optimum for 'grip'
driving.
Good luck with the events. I hope that you are well-
subscribed and that everyone has a blast.
Rob.

I've been to some combined days organized by Derek last year and I can say I didn't have the same experience. It seems that Derek has a pretty good group of regulars that don't really tolerate crap and the rookies are relatively well behaved as a result. When there were drifters out too they were very curtious. The only problem was them kicking stones onto the track, which is why he moved drifting to the afternoon this year. I will likely be out with Derek and his group again. Good group of people that aren't too stuck up to take some advise when problems arise. (which is more than I can say for most CASC member clubs)

Thanks Marsh.
It is refreshing not to get 'flamed' when the
only intent of a posting is to be helpful.
All the best to Derek and you guys !!!

I appreciate all of your input, im need it to help make the events as well run as possible.
I realize that there were issues with the combined grip and drift last season.
Thats why i seperated the two this time.
The morning is for grip only, and the afternoon is for drift only.
the two will not mix at any point.
the grip guys go out in the morning so that they get a nice clean track.and the drift guys in the aft so that they can mess it up with no consequense, although last season i had more of an issue with grip guys goin off and making a mess.....
my website will be up very soon with the events and times better described.
As marsh said, I'm starting to get a large group of regulars. We had relatively few issues last year, and this year is looking to be even better.
several people have aleady signed up, so spots are being filled, so if your interested, please sign up asap
