Does a slow automatic civic have any hope in hell of being at least semi competitive in the world of autocross... I know it will be fun no matter what I do but it's more fun to be within a couple of seconds in your class. (I'm about to lose my Integra (the much better starting point for autox)
BTW what class would a 2000 Civic LX be in (d16y7) b2 or b3?
Thanx for your help:confused:

2000 Civic would be B1.....a tough class.
We saw in the shoot-out that automatics have a chance in the rain and a top notch driver could make the car seem competitive. Still a lot of fun.

You sure it's MPFI? I was kinda hoping for B2 "civic DX, EX..." maybe I should e-mail direct to the solo II folks?
If it is in B1 I have no hope against the Integras of the world (I know, I own one now and they're waaaaay different cars)
Anyone else feel free to pipe in....

I am one of the Solo II folks.
Any Civic past 1992 is MPFI.
If you look at the results from this year (http://www.soloontario.com/solo2 and results) you'll see that a CRX and a Cavalier are the dominants (although Integras are in the class)

That you and Mr. Ryan made it pretty much a 2 car season... he had to make a couple mods though to get to B1 did he not? Cavalier z24 is a B2 car. Do you know what they were?
In the results - are all cars that competed posted or just ones that are in the points race? Eg: if someone came along and came in fifth, but was not interested in points, and did not belong to any club etc. are they still in the results?
Then there are the tires questions... but I'll start a new thread on that...
Thanks for any info.

Ryan was using the step-up rule, I do believe 1 point for air intake and 1 point for a rear sway bar, to step up to B1 from B2.
The event results show only the cars that are series registered or filled out the regional forms at the event and the series results just show the series registered and the cars that paid to be officially scored at the specific event.
If this is your first season competing, don't worry about being competitive. Unless you have a back ground in racing or have exceptional car control skills you probably won't be competitive in your first season no matter what you drive.
Take a year or two and get seat time, access the competition and possibly look into what car to purchase in the future to be competitive.
It's all about seat time, not the car (although the car definitely helps)
(Don't mind the spelling errors, eh)

and the first season will be fun only (since I know I can't compete with a 4door civic)
You've done well with the crx - weird that the crx and the base civic would be in the same class though... (just my ramblings)
Whatever I end up getting will probably a Honda product - had the rest...
Two more questions:
Any ideas when the 2003 schedule will be announced?
Are there actually helmets that you can borrow at the events?
thanks,
w.

Helmets are often available, but not always. If you're going to get into the sport invest in a good helmet that fits you.
As for a competitive car, it's very hard to say that winning in something is impossible. There will always be courses where your car won't work as well as you competitors, and no matter how good you get, there will always be someone that will hand you your a$$ in some kind of family grocery getter (ask any WOSCA member about that). So yes there are big disadvantages to things like an auto, but you will always have your good days.

Yes Wes is right I used the step up rule the second year I raced in the regional series, it was then just to fill the B1 class but I had added a rear sway bar last year aswell. This season I took the cone filter off my car and reinstalled the stock airbx due to the fact I was lossing power. Anyways come to the Open house when ever it is and check it out andmaybe you will meet some of us.

Nissan's......damn the Nissans, get a bloody standard transmission Honda, if you really want to win (and of course join HADA).
Teeheehee
FYI, I started last year with an 87 Civic HB, 1.3L automatic. I wasn't winning anything, but it did work. I think I managed 3 top tens out of 25+ people in class (at PITL, not regionals).
