Bring out your beaters because the WOSCA Winter Slalom Series is a go and the flyer is now posted on our website here: http://www.wosca.com/Event_info/WinterSeries2007.htm
If the lot is snow covered then we run 3 classes:
-Engine over drive wheel (EOD)
-Engine not over drive wheel (RWD)
-All wheel drive (AWD)
If the lot is not snow covered then we run regular Ontario summer rule book.
I'll be adding the series to myautoevents.com shortly
So until the 28th, pray for snow.

Still on?
Is there going to be snow?
Snow-covered?

The event is still on. It's not looking too good for snow covered, but I'm going to have one of the local guys go talk with the plow people right away. Frankly they haven't had much snow there to build up.
I'll try and have a lot report posted in the WOSCA forum the day before:

There's little or no snow here guys. Sorry. The weather forecast doesn't show much of anything coming this way either. Sarnia is pretty much the banana belt of SW Ont. I like it that way, personally. :D

DOH!
Altho I do see about 5 cm's in the next coupla days...
Marsh - question:
How will you score the series if there are 1 or 2 events that are "dry" and have CASC classing... and 2 or 3 that are snowy and have "motor over drive-wheels type classing"?
Is it just the car with the most points that wins?
Lemme know!
Travel plans and car mod plans to either give the thumbs-up or thumbs-down to!
:D :D :D

We still use the same overal scoring system. The only difference between the two is that under winter rules there is no overall winner, just class scores. Under the CASC rule set there are no class winners just overall. In either case the score obtained at that event for each competitor goes into their series tally. Although it's possible for up to three people to tie for the series win, it's never actually come up.

In Sarnia, that is code for "you're not gonna see any more than a sprinkling"

I just drove by to check it out and, the lot at Hiawatha is looking really trick. There was only about 1.5 inches of snow ovenight, but it is blowing all over. Forecast suggests there will be a bit more, along with ice pellets and continuing cold between now and Sunday. There are some sizable drifts, ice patches, snowy patches, and bare patches. It looks as though much of the back half of the lot has been untouched by plow. I hope my beater is fixed, 'cause it will be fun! :D

Oh ye of little faith. ;)
I understand that the plow guys are doing their jobs as specified as well and leaving the north end untouched. Can you confirm that?

Most of the north end has been left unmolested.

James has been nice enought to take some pictures of the lot and post them on the WOSCA board.

There is enough snow that I think it's safe to say we will be snow rules on Sunday. ;)

Ha! It's true... We got our asses handed to us by a front-drive domestic from MICHIGAN!
I'd be back next time for revenge, but I think I'll be in Boston that weekend.

Who took the pics from the event? Marsh didn't credit anyone, but I'm pretty sure they're not his (unless he's taken a new interest in digital phoography recently)...........

It was JDuffett, who just posted above. He was driving the Bimmer at the event.

What kind of tires do u guys use?
Marsh
02-07-2007, 09:12 AM
Standard winter tires. No studs are allowed because it's a paved parking lot and we don't want to damage any pavement. I would say Blizzaks are the most popular right now.
Tractionized is exceptable, but nobody's ever had tractionized tires at an event I've attended (to my knowledge).

Even if its dry do you still use winters?

Yup. At sub zero temps snow tires are better than summer tires, even on dry pavement. Of course an argument can be made for all season, but I've never seen anyone do well on all season.

They've worked well at Blandford.
