Kind of a newby question...Hope this is the correct forum.
Would it be legal to race a Legend car or MiniCup in Solo1 or Solo2? Can the car be modified? (i.e. install a larg(er) motorcycle motor.)
I like the idea of a scale race car but want more power. I am looking for a safer tamer gixxerkart sort of setup. (unfortunately, I am too big for a kart. 6ft 200+lbs.
At this point, I am not looking to win a class but just to have fun and improve skill.
Any info/guidance is appreciated.
Thanks!

I dunno about Solo, but there was a Legends car racing in GT Sprints a few years back, and it was really quick. I forget who the driver was, but maybe someone else knows?

I think Cotton Mather ran a Legend a few year back in Solo 1. Not sure if the Mini Cup cars qualify.

I run a dwarf car in Solo I. Dwarf cars are like Legends but not factory-built. It works fine on a road course, although different tires and setup are needed. My car has a Hayabusa engine, and I run on slicks, so it is a little faster than a Legend, but in the same ballpark. The car is classed in Mod (or Open Mod depending who you ask) which is the fastest class so you have to go very quickly indeed to win, but it is really a blast to drive these cars around a road course.
A Minicup car would be too small. The limitations in Solo are that you must run at least 10-inch wheels, a 72-inch wheelbase, and four wheels. So a Legend, a Baby Grand, or a Cup Lites car would work fine.

I've watched Legends cars run in both solo1 and regionals. (Yes it was Cotton who ran one). As long as its safety equipment is tech passed it can run.
The biggest hinderance to running a Legends at regionals was in the beginning the diff, which is a Toyota and has limited gear ratio selections. I think they are all 4.20s and not good for Mosport.
This was all a few years back. Not sure about now and availability of upgrades on the cheap.

These days, you can buy new Ring & Pinion sets for the Toyota rear from Richmond Gear all the way up to 2.50 IIRC. Junkyard Toyota gears can be had up to 3.30. I ran my car at Mosport last year with a 3.58, which was a little short, but not that bad, although the Legends motor/gearbox (FJ1200/1300) is geared a lot shorter than my Hayabusa. It's fine for any of the other Solo I tracks. Some larger tires on the back could also solve this problem.
A muffler is also required, sadly, at some of the Solo I tracks. I'm not sure whether Legends come with one, I assume that they do.

Ohhh! A Dwarf car would fit the bill nicely. The Legend cars would be sweet too. Come spring i will hope to start shopping :-)
