Good afternoon everyone,

For the last few months I have considered and contemplated my role in the CASC-OR Autoslalom Series and I have finally made a very hard decision. After two years assisting the previous Autoslalom Director, Robb Smith, and three years as the CASC-OR Autoslalom Director myself I have decided that it is time for me to step aside a let someone new take over running the CASC-OR Autoslalom Series.

Last year I was fortunate enough to have a great bunch of people helping me out and one of them, Peter Mills, has decided that he is willing to fill in as the Autoslalom Director for the remainder of my elected (ok, I wasn't actually elected....) term. Hopefully Pete will continue and also run in November to remain on as the Autoslalom Director, with experience.

Now there is no need to worry as plans for the 2007 season are well underway and progressing along nicely. I have made a commitment to Pete to remain on the 2007 Autoslalom Committee, at least for part of the 2007 season, to ensure a smooth transition for the new Autoslalom Director. The running of the series should not be effected at all by this decision.

I would like to personally thanks all the clubs that have made my tenure as Autoslalom Director mostly a pleasurable one. The clubs in this province have some great people running them and I have made what will no doubt be life long friends through my dealing with the CASC-OR clubs in Ontario and others across the country. I would also like to thank all the people that volunteered to help with the series over the last three years as well. Without these dedicated and selfless people, the series would not exist, thank you all!

I truly hope that my decision will ultimately be a positive move for the series and I truly hope that the sport and the series I have loved so much over the last five or more years will continue to grow and prosper. Please assist Pete in anyway you can to make the 2007 CASC-OR Autoslalom Series season a success.

Thank you and I hope to see most of you out in the nearest parking lot (or track) in the spring.

Wes Tanney
CASC-OR Autoslalom Director

Wes, the sport will not be as interesting without you at the helm, BUT I hope to see the Wes of old in the parking lot, smiling and having fun. It's been a while.

Welcome Pete, you have a tough pair of shoes to fill, good luck.

From everything I could see you did a hell of a job, I am sure there was tonns more behind the scenes and I aswell as anyone that likes or loves this sport thanks you. Pete has some big shoes to fill (your what 7 foot tall lol) and knowing him I think he'll do a good job aswell.

Thanks again Wes and to Pete for steping up.

Wes, thank you for your help and contribution over the years. Our sport only exists because of volunteers like you, who are willing to invest their personal time.

Pete, I look forward to working with you on the CASC-OR board.

I think that all of us in the sport of Solo owe Wes a large thanks and a hand shake the next time that we see him, for the job that he has done in organizing the Ontario Region Solo 2 Series.

This is a hobby to us all, and it is meant to be fun. When it stops being fun, we need to re-evaluate what we are doing. I really hope to see Wes out in the parking lots this summer (for more than one reason - I need his help!), and let him return to being a regular Solo competitor.

Thank you for the emails and PMs that I have already received, and I look forward to working with CASC and the Clubs in continuing the sport that I have been involved in for a little while.

I have set up another email account that I would like to use for the Solo related stuff, and I will change my profile for that.

In all seriousness, we do owe Wes a big debt of gratitude for his hard work. Hopefully this does mean we'll see him in the paddock a bit more, (especially at PITL events ;) )

Pete, best of luck to you! I've got a few steps you could follow that might help you out:

1) Cut a hole in a box.....

Err...

1) Start saying "provincial"...not regional!
2) ???
3) Profit!

I have been involved in Ontario motorsport for a long time. We are all members of clubs that are affiliated with CASC-OR or the Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs - Ontario REGION. :) So, this is the Ontario Region series, in my mind, and it always will be. Sorry.

Many thanks to Wes for a massive contribution to Autocross in recent years.

Pete, all the best in your new role, and now I'll have to find someone else to bombard with my many technical 'what if'...?' scenarios.

Looking forward to '07....
