How did you like your MP5, I know you traded up to the MP3, but I'm looking for a second car for work. I need to be able to carry my tools, and a 6' ladder. My Sentra won't but the MP5 should easily.
And after the lease is up I may keep it for the track :)

I was very happy with it! Actually the main reason I went with the MP3 is because it was there, and I got tired of seeing so many Protege5s on the road. When I first got it I would see maybe one a week and a year later I couldn't drive two blocks downtown without seeing five or more :)

I still think that for value on the dollar, the P5 is a great package and yes it can haul a lot of stuff! I moved everything I own in it (multiple trips) including a 3/4 sized matress and bed frame. Plus it is the best looking of the "new" hatchbacks.

Roger Foo did turn some fast lap times in his P5 last year even though it was under-developed compared to the sedans .. I don't think he's racing one in 2003 but there is definite potential in the platform.

Get one :D I would recommend white...

P.S. look for the toprotege club at Speedorama this weekend, and the Canadian International Auto Show in Feb.

Why white?
Is Foo driving this year?
I know he had a bit of a rough year last year, but he was matching or beating the leaders lap times at just about every race. He just never seemed to qualify well and had to fight he way through the pack.

I just like the P5 in white .. it wasn't available when I bought mine though. The yellow and blue are pretty slick choices too though. :)

From what I have heard, Foo is no longer with Joe Jordan's team from last year .. although he will be racing something next season, I haven't heard what, or in which series. Possibly a Mazda but maybe he will go back to his Honda roots.

The two biggest annoyances of the 3rd generation Protege I would say are:
1 - soft motor mounts causing wheel hop
--- (easily solved for about $130 USD with urethane mounts from AWR)
2 - notchy gearbox/difficult synchros
--- (easily solved by switching transmission fluid to Redline or Motul)

signed on to the toProtege message board, looks like a great site. Hopefully I'll get lots of info there. I'll be at Speedorama this weekend so I'll check out their cars there.

Affiliated with Team Protomotive, Jim Jordan, Joe Jordan or it's entities.
Roger Foo is not liable nor has ever been liable for balances outstanding by Team Protomotive.

If you are owed money by Team Protomotive from this past season, please do not ask me for payment. I am in line as well. If you have any further questions you can email me. If you are thinking about partnering with the team, please consult me for the honest facts.

Happy Holidays!

Well guys, I spoke with Jim Jordan who runs Rogers team and it turns out its not as bad as it sounds. Roger is leaving the team, but should be back next season, possibly with a Mazda.

Jim Jordans team will return and should have plenty of support.

Dont want to get into any more details at the request of the team, but all is looking ok and Mazda will be back in full force and support for the teams next season. Cant wait.
