I've decided to sell my 1988 celica alltrac ice racer for sale, car is currently competing in this years championship.Has yet to win but a string of second place finishes shows the potential of this car.
Car has been lightened, gutted interior, sound deadening removed, lexan windows etc,car has a custom 2.5" exhaust with no cat, resonater or muffler(instant boost!).All new toyota fuel lines, rear brake lines, plugs, wires and cap and rotor.
Also have 12 aluminum celica rims,4 new slush tires,4 new blizzacks,2 new yoko 720's all mounted with tubes and freshly tractionized(about $800 worth of tires)
Car runs great, starts first crank after sitting there all week.

I'm not looking for a bunch of money,I've just decided to focus my race efforts in another direction.
If this even interests anyone a little please e-mail me for further details tsrmotorsports@aol.com

Pure out of curiousity (sp), would it be possible to make this car street legal again ?

Thanks,

Rob.

Hi Rob,thanks for the interest in the alltrac,to anwser your question no I don't think it would be worth while to convert the car back to road legal status.I'd would be more fun to continue its purpose as an ice race car,it is a ball to drive with around 200 hp with stock boost and no studs in the tires.

How much roughly are you looking to get for the car.
I'm not sure if I would go into ice racing, but at least I could either use it for rallies or worst case scenario parts car for my rally celica.
Would you be interested in just selling the rims maybe??
I seem to have busted one and eventually will need to find it
Cheers

So who's the new owner?

Did it go to an ice racer?

inquiring minds need to know!:)

My celica sold to a fellow and his son who will continue to ice race the car next season. In talking with them I think they have the skills to further develop the car and should be a threat to the subes.
I finally get a car that wasn't a dog down the strait and I go and sell it!Oh well,if they bring in a spec stud tire then I'd like to go back to the stud class, but I will never build stud tires again.

It sounded like the Martins may have bought it from Chris's post on Teutonic.ca. He mentioned that they have a line on one.

They will be staying status quo with the stud tires for next season while they look at other spec tire options. The Menard doesnt have quite enough grip, and no one wants to give any grip away if at all possible. Tom Prentice is looking into some stud tires from Sweden. We'll see how it goes.

I bought it, and yes, you'll see it next year at the ice races. I'm not currently active in cars, having spent the last 9 years karting with my son. However, times change, and he and I are moving on. I've just sent a membership form for TAC, and registered us both.

I've been up at Minden four times now to check out the racing, and I'm impressed. The racing looks a lot cleaner and closer than I thought it might be. More importantly, the driver in the family with all the talent says he wants to do it. That was enough for me. We'll be there, in rubber to ice class! As for the ice racer, it sits on my driveway all wrapped up in a blue tarp, waiting for enough snow to disappear so I can get it into storage. There are a couple of things to be done to further develop the car that Tom didn't have time to do, and once these are done, it should be even quicker. Tom doesn't know it yet, but I'm planning to draft him on to the team as technical advisor!:D Only hope we can drive it well enough to stay out of trouble. (well, maybe not "we", perhaps "I" is more accurate.....)

In early April, I expect delivery of a new SVT Mustang to replace my deceased and much lamented, 5.0 LX. Once I've put on subframe connectors and all manner of reinforcement to keep the car in one piece, you'll see me at some Solo 2 events, and maybe, if I feel comfortable enough in the car, at a Solo 1 event, probably at Cayuga, since I've driven that track before. (but not all that quickly)

Now that Ice Racing's done for the year, I just can't wait for spring!

Gary:

Glad to hear it went to an ice racer. From what i saw of the car on the track it has lots of get up and go! It should be a blast to drive.

You mentioned you had a 5.0l Mustang LX. Where did it end up? I'm looking for one of those to make into a studded car.

Regards,

Tony

Hey Gary if a weekend pops up next year that the drivers seat is open you can draft me for that too!:D
Right now I'm too busy prepping the corolla for battle to miss the celica, but come next fall.....I've got 3 or 4 different cars to co-drive next season but none have even close to half the power the celica has.

Whoa I just reread Tony's post, its bad enough that you race a VW but now your considering a 5.0ltr,say it ain't so.Besides if they do implement a spec tire I would most likely go rwd stud class and you allready kicked my ass at the solo shootout(remember the pretty little copper corolla?).Then again if I could beat you just once I'd know I'd acklomplished something.

Tony:

Regrettably, my LX is no longer with us, having moved on to the parts bazaar in Milton where Mustangs go when it's all over. I certainly looked twice at Tom Prentice's hatchback, as mine was white too, albeit newer. Deja vu, all over again! :( Tom P's car certainly seemed to run quick. Actually, what amazed me was the speed of your Rabbit. I was transfixed, with my jaw in the snow, first time I saw it on the track.

Anyhow, I hope you find a Mustang that will work, but given the popularity of the car, I don't expect you will find one cheap. If it is, it'll likely be thoroughly thrashed.

Tom:

Well, who knows. If you can pry me out of the seat and wipe the grin off my face, maybe you can have a go a time or two next year. Just be ready for all the questions I'm going to ask about the car when you come back in! Gotta get that tuning information somehow!

Gary,in talking with you I think you've got the skills to tune the thing all by yourself, not that I won't throw my .02 cents in.
I think learning to read the ice to find the best grip will be the biggest challenge. If you figure it out I'll be asking you for advice as I still misread it after 7 years of trying(just ask Russ Bond in the MR2,he went around about 3 times after I screwed up!!)
I will take you up on the offer to co-drive if it works out, thanks in advance.

You've got mail re: Ford 5.0.
I know of a potential ice racing candidate for you.
