Perhaps it is just my perception, but why does no one use these tires in Solosprint anymore?
I thought they were something in between the RA-1 and the V710/R6, both in terms of grip, and longevity.

Andy, I ran Victoracers for at least 5 years on my Camaro. They seem to suite heavy cars quite well and I never bothered to shave them. They are not as fast as an "Uber" tire but last significantly longer. I have never got to compare them to worn down or shaved Toyos but they will heat cycle out before the end of the season (although no where near as suddenly or as quickly as V710s)

Andy, put some V700`s 255/40/17`s on those rims you acquired with at least –2.5 to -3 camber and you will get even tire wear across the tread. There better grip then Toyos and cheaper.:)
There also a shorter tire so will help with your rear drive ratio ;)

The 255/40-17 V700 is one of the options
255/40-17 RA-1 and 245/40-17 R6 are the other options.
RA-1's are familiar ground for me, the others aren't. I guess I need some prices on the V700's before I think about it too much.
I suppose it depends what the competition comes out with this year too...

Hey Andy,
I tried a used set of 225/50-16 V700 Victoracers on my RSX 2 years ago. At that time I found that they were a bit better than the RA-1s I ran back then. They seem to grip well until the limit but then they break away without much warning if you go past the limit. I suspect they need lots of heat, more than uber tires at least, for optimal grip. I used them one last time at Calabogie last October (because I had no other tires left) but they were dried out and I had lots of fun trying to keep the car on the track in the cold weather... :)

Hmm, thanks for the input guys. Anyone else? :D

They used to be a mid-point between V710s/Hoosier R3S05s and Toyo RA1s until the R6s arrived. The R6s now last at least as long as the Victoracers (I think they are more consistent and last longer than the Victos), are much faster, and are cheaper with the available R6 group buys.
Simply put... there is no reason for you to run anything but R6s this season, so stop putting off the inevitable! Do you want to win, or do you want to spend more money and go slower as well?? :p
A set of R6s can easily run the requisite 6 events for one driver. Practice on your RA1s, compete on the R6s, and win some races. :D

I think Chris is correct. The embarassing (to me) propositioning that Chris laid on me for event 6 at TMP was proof that the Hoosiers last through more heat cycles than V710s. I will be on Hoosiers this year.

So you're saying that R6's last just as long as Victoracers?
Because if that's true, then you're right, there really isn't any reason to use the Victoracers over the R6's.

CHRIS thinks they last as long. I'm not so sure about that but they seem to last longer than V710s.

I KNOW they do... I didn't like Victoracers at all. Heavy and they wore terribly. R6s were like a dream come true!

So it looks like I have a longevity vs. grip dilemna
255/40-17 RA-1's
or
245/40-17 R6's
Hmmmmmmm

It's a no brainer Andy, go for the grip... :)

I thought cost was part of the equation.
You have 2 set of rims
One set has to be R6`s the other set is less grip with cost being part of the equation.
Kumho V700`s are cheaper then RA-1`s with better grip.
I don’t agree with Chris, I got excellent wear with the right camber from V700`s
They would go hard before I wore them out.
Just so you know
I picked up 245/45/16`s R6 and they are the same height and width as 255/40/17`s V700

Cost PER lap is part of the equation. I think Toyo's beat the Victoracer's in that comparison.
Todd and I made up our mind, you guys will see in the spring :)

How does cost per 2nd place trophy figure in the equation? :p

With two drivers, there is always a second place Chris, and Andy will pay just as much for that as I will for First. ;)
For the record, I thought we should each have our own set of rims so I could run Mickey Thompsons. :p
