Theoretically it should improve your fuel mileage slightly when you are towing a trailer on the highway.

Good place to sit in if the weather is shite, Try and find one with good locks and hardware of course any opne that wants in can get in but you keep
the little wankers that don't know anything out.
Did you get the diesel or a gas engine?
its got the 6.6l duramax diesel engine..so it will haul the cartrailer great

I use a Leer cap on my F-150 SuperCrew. Its great because it gives you the ability to stack things in the bed higher you normally could. They are also easy to remove when nedded; four bolts loosened, and a few freinds to help, and its off in 5 minutes. On the downside, the extra weight is carried up high, and I can feel the truck roll a liitle bit more around corners. It also creates some blind spots you could loose the Queen Mary in!

we have a 05 2500hd with a leer cap. Basically it all depends how much you want to spend.
We first had a crossover toolbox and tonneau (still have it VGC, for sale...) I liked it because at the time we towed a fifth wheel a lot, roll the cover up to hitch up but keep some storage for tools, tiedowns, etc.
Switched to a cap when we went with a bumper pull trailer. Got a leer with the side toolbxes (in lieu of windows, there are doors that open into toolboxes, very handy).
The plus side: more dry storage, able to put tall items in and keep them dry/hidden. With the boxes, I've got more tool storage. I've gained a roof rack
The minus side: worse visability, cost, harder to take off-put on, can't tow a fifth wheel, harder to put in bulk items. Harder to get stuff in and out (esp from the front of the box).
A cap suits my needs better but it's a personal choice. Don't expect better fuel economy. It may be there, but not that I've seen. IMHO, a truck isn't complete without either a cap or a tonneau. Also if you get a cap, look into a bedslide. Basically a big flat drawer that slides out so you can get at the stuff in the front of the bed.
We bought ours at Hamiltons truck toppers in London. But there's lots of choice out there. We've been happy with our leer and we found it cheaper than some competitors.
If you're interested in the tonneau though, send me a PM
Good luck
Gord
I am thinking of one so that when I am going to the track..I can haul my tires and stuff ,then at night camp in it....instead of using a tent
Upside: Better storage, truck may be a little quieter.
Downsides:
Can't see during shoulder checks.
Hard to load stuff up against front of bed
ice can build up between cab and cap in winter and make a hell of a racket.
That said: Definitely worth while if you carry a lot of easily stealable stuff.
