Although a seminar has proven hard to schedule, Rallysport Ontario is still seeking input from experienced organizers and interested members to create the first official RSO Organizers' Manual.

A draft version will be handed out at the AGM March 24, and members will be asked to send any comments, suggestions, additions, or deletions to me on their own time. All input will then be compiled into a final version by May 6, 2007.

Are we reinventing the wheel? There have been several versions of rally manuals around. Who is creating the latest bible?
Perhaps a distilling of the available ones would be a better use of volunteers' time and effort.

Over a year ago (before I was elected VP, actually), a desire was expressed to create an "official" RSO organizers' manual. Upon my election I inherited this project. This will in fact BE a distillation of all existing club manuals, available in one spot for the assistance of current and would-be ORRC organizers. Originally the idea was to gather all organizers together at a seminar and hash this out, but since interest was lacking for setting such a date, I came up with the idea of giving out drafts and asking for modifications 'on-their-own-time'. In this manner we can still get the input of all clubs and organizers to compile existing guidelines into one clear manual.

Unfortunately it therefore fell to me to create the draft version that we will begin with, by reviewing and recopying all manuals currently available. So in fact it is just what you suggest: and now the writer is me. But the ultimate writer will be all organizers who review and send changes to the draft. I hope that will include you!

Actually *I* have been reinventing the wheel. But I went at it another way than working with existing wheels. I decided to knock of a few million decimal places in the value of pi, and that has had severe ramifications beyond my wildest dreams (and those are pretty wild)! :D
