I was wondering where I can get a set of R compound tires shaved? I tried calling Wheel and Tire Zone, but was told they don't shave tire anymore.
Thanks

My first thought would be to try Tirecraft.

Tirecraft can do different types of shaves if you prefer. Speed World Challenge Touring shaves off all the tread all across the tread, whereas we like a straight across shave leaving the outer edges taller than the middle. Tires last longer.

Revolution Wheel and Tire in Barrie is getting a tire shaver. I dont know if he has it yet but Paul was talking about it last time I was in.

Interesting and totally useless note; I was able to fit 14 tires in my Protege 5 on the drive over to Revolution

That just tells me you have less than ideal camber! (or camber curves)
 :p ;)

Well, I am waiting to hear back from Revolution Wheel and Tire, they are getting a machine, and are just finding out when it will be in.

I tried calling all Mississauga, Toronto and Scarbourough locations for Tire Craft, and none of those locations will shave, 3 of them didn't even know what it was.

I'm a little surprised that I can't find anyone closer to Toronto that can shave tires...

Tireworks in Mississauga will do them, but I think you should talk to Jeff at Tirecraft first. Tireworks does a great job too, it's just that everytime we had ours done the price kept getting higher and higher.

I talked to Tireworks about getting some shaved Toyos, and they said the shaving was done at Toyo, not by them.

Andrew Kantor used to have a shaving machine when he was in the Mississauga location(s)....not sure what happened to it. You could try giving him a call at the Etobicoke store now.....

Jeff Wenzel - a CASC sponsor... can, has and will do it.

I was discussing this very matter yesterday with some people that use his services at the track... and tire-shaving is one that they can arrange for you.

HOWEVER...

For auto-x (this is the autocross forum) any tire that would benefit from shaving... ends up costing as much or more than a V710 or Hoosier for the amount of life that's left in it after it's been shaved... and would be faster...

Altho I did shave a set of v700's once when I couldn't get V710's...

Just buy the good stuff for auto-x.

Save the cost of shaving, buy the ones that do not grow hair. :p

Jeff Wenzel's location is still in the GTA.

Just to keep everyone up to date, I spoke to Jeff Wenzel, and he won't have a shaving machine for another month and a half.

I talked to Tireworks, and they can shave tires in house right now :)

And so far as tire choice, I was having problems finding 710's and A6's in the right size, and heard a few reviews saying that the NT01 would be a better "first time" R compound.
