View Full Version : Spring *warm-up* Lapping day at SMP

Gang,

As the driving season is getting ready to start within the next month or so, I'm checking around to see who may be interested in a Spring Warm-up lapping day at SMP on Saturday, April 5th.

We're looking at booking either Fabi, or the Full track (not sure Nelson is worth the 2 hour drive....).

It's a pure, open lapping day, with the opportunity to get as much track time as possible to blast off some of that winter rust (off the driver, not off the car...)

Please let me know if you're interested.

We're looking for experienced drivers only, as it's purely a test and tune day. Experienced Solo 1 people are certainly welcome.

If you haven't driven on a race track before, this event is not for you.

Price will be determined based on the number of people attending. It's a pure, non-profit event. Total cost divided equally amongst the people attending.

Wow, I'd love to, but that might be too early for me. Any consideration for a late April weekend instead? The way this winter is going, the track may be coated in ice that weekend.

Unfortunately, that's the only weekend in April I have free at the moment, though plenty of other people may be willing to arrange something.

Basically, all I'm trying to do is get a warm-up day prior to the first weekend at Mosport. I'm not looking forward to "testing and tuning" my car on the big track, especially if it's wet (or worse, snowy!).

I started looking at my schedule for the upcoming summer, thinking I had plenty of free weekends....but I'm going to have a tough time justifying all the dates I have lined up already!

Oh well, I guess TOO much track time can be a good problem...

SMP just got back to me, and Nelson is available, but HRC has the Fabi track booked for Saturday.

What about the DDT or TMP in April...? If the weather starts to pick up, early April may not be so bad.

FYI, the Solo 1 open house is Sun, April 6. You should consider that in picking your date...

Chris,

We have Fabi booked for Monday, April 7th. Since the BMW-CC's first school of the year is at Mosport on April 11th, I want to make sure I have a chance to iron out the bugs, prior to hitting Mosport.

Cayuga isn't opening up until later in April, due to all the hassles they've been having with the town of Cayuga. I'm fearing how much longer Cayuga / TMP is going to be around.
