To whomever is in charge of the Solo Ontario/Slolo II website .. I would like to offer assitance in any way that is needed, mostly from a programming/database/useability standpoint. I feel that the website is a resource currently under-utalized for promoting the sport/series but think there is potential to have it be an important resource and promotional tool.

Currently Perry Ianuzzi handles the Solo 1 site with Wes Tanney serving as the Solo II section web guy. Usually any help is appreciated.

Rowan, what did you have in mind?

What kind of database/prgramming are you thinking about?

real-time updates of event results via wireless modem, e-mail notifications of the next event or event results ... hehe ;)

Actually I haven't really thought it through as far as what could be useful. Definitely event schedules and results .. some interfaces to make it easier to update perhaps. A general re-organization to help showcase the sponsors, and highlight the next event on the calendar be it a competiton or booth at a car show.

Once event information is in a database, it becomes much easier to share between sites. i.e. SoloOntario can publish the schedule as RDF and it can be loaded by WiredMotorsports or HADA or other sites and vice-versa to solve the problem of having multiple schedules for the same events with conflicting dates.

Just wanted to make myself available to help out. I've built sites with PHP, Perl, Asp and run them on MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and done different things with XML from RDF to XSLT stuff. Also I've done quite a bit with streaming media should the need for any of that arise.

Would it be difficult to program the site so that we can download the series schedule(s) directly into Outlook or PDA's?

Just a thought.
