I'd like to maintain my novice status for next season. So far, I've competed in last year's National Solosprint event in St.Eustach attending both days and last Sunday I attended a Time Attack event at TMP. Now, do all "timed" events at tracks count as an event or do they have to be Solosprint specific events?

I'm thinking of doing more time attacks and the National Solosprint events this year before doing the full season next year as a "Novice"

3.1.2 To be considered a SoloSprint Novice, a competitor must not have competed in more than three (3) SoloSprint, stage rally, race, race school, ice race or equivalent events, be a past Solo 2 Overall Champion prior to the start of the current Championship season, or have worked as a performance driving instructor. Competitors with other types of experience may, at the Director’s discretion, be considered a SoloSprint Novice.

I'm kind of in the same boat wanting to do a full season next year as a novice since my car will not be ready until the August 18-19th events at the earliest so I can't compete for the championship this year. I assume the DDT school I attended counts as one event even though it was two days? So that means I could do one event (gotta use up that free event) this year and then the school next year if I choose. Correct?

The rule says "more than three (3) events" so I'm assuming 3 is ok is it not??? I was at the school for the two days and entered events 1 and 2 so if I don't enter any more events for the rest of the season, I should still keep my novice status for next season no??? Please lmk because if I've already gone past the point of no return, I'm just gonna enter as many events as possible this season.

Why don't you just compete as a novice this year? Sounds like you're well on the way!

This is my first year of competition and i'm basically out to gain experience. I'm also buying a house this year which means i may not have the funds/time to enter as many events as I hope. I should have more free time next year to do a full season and I'd like to start that off by still being a novice.

The solosprint school doesn't count as an event as it is not a race school. Trung I would suspect that you've reached your 3 events already (last years nationals counts as two events, and time attack as one I assume).

Thanks guys for the replies!

I guess I won't be a novice next year then!
