There is no PITL or TLMC or WOSCA or HADA events this upcoming weekend (june 16-17). Do you know of any events happening anywhere in the GTA area?
Thanks, I'm itching to get out again

There was a thread on these 2 events that got deleted, no clue why.
From what I had read you have to be a member of a CASC club but not series registered to compete?
I am planning on attending ONLY these 2 events in the regional series, how much is membership in a CASC club? Worth it just for 2 events?
Where is the Rulebook for the regionals? Searched but can't seem to find it.
I have run in all 3 PITL events to date, so I'm not exactly new to this but by no means am I a pro (far far far from it).
Thanks.

The list of clubs are here...

The entire Season Schedule is here:

I can't speak for anyones club, but to join SPDA it's 45 Dollars and you get:
40% off on all Toyo RA-1 Race tires
$100.00 from our sponsor dealer if you register for the CASC Regionals
Discounts for clutches
Discounts on cars
etc. etc. etc.
Not to mention the potential of being selected and sponsored by SPDA to compete in other events to attract people to "Take it off the Streets". There were a bunch of people that were subsidized to go to the following events this year:
CSCS
Redline Time Attack
Join the club that benefits you the most, with the value that makes most sense to you. Lots of good clubs around.
The reason the other thread was deleted was due to a post I made about getting 8 runs on the CASC regional event.
Certain persons took offence to getting that many runs and it got deleted to keep the fighting off the boards.
Hope this helps.

i don't think people were offended, perhaps just surprised that 8 runs are being scored for a regional event
there was a reason why 3.6.4 was put into the rule book

For the record, I don't have a problem with having 8 runs...
However, it was a bit of a surprise, and can certainly have an impact on the results. Technically it seems to have been in contravention of the rulebook at the time, and it does seem to undermine the concept that, at the top level of the sport, part of the game is to know the course and be fast right out of the box--not take 8 runs to get there. All that said, it was announced beforehand, and one would think if anyone had concerns they could have raised them prior to the start of the event.
I personally think that the current execs are trying to inject more enjoyment into the sport that we participate in.
Change is part of growth, change for growth helps everyone extract as much enjoyment as they want from this hobby.
Take it for what it is, constructive criticism normally includes suggestions for betterment, and that is one of the catalysts that effected change.
I personally encourage people to put in their comments on other threads to help this sport grow. I'm sure the Director and President are willing to listen.
It wasn't long ago when people were protecting venues, now clubs are sharing, and its great. That's an example of positive change.
Just my .02 cents

From what I had read you have to be a member of a CASC club but not series registered to compete?
“6.1.1. Eligibility for Points
To be eligible to compete to score points, a competitor must;
6.1.1.1. Be a full voting member of a CASC-OR affiliated club. They must also meet all the requirements of registering for a CASC-OR Championship Event. However, a temporary club membership must be issued by the organizing club to ensure that proper insurance coverage is in effect at the event. The organizing club may choose not to charge for this one time issuance. The competitor may score championship points in those events if they subsequently purchase the required items before the next event and notifies the organizer.
6.1.1.2. The holder of a current and valid drivers license.
** The above materials must be presented at the time of registration and scrutineering inspection of any and all of the above events.
6.1.1.3. A competitor may compete in only one Provincial Championship Event without series registering, except if he is a full voting member of more than one club, at which point he can compete in any event organized by the club he is a member of.”
But, that is to score points.
To simply compete:
“4.1. Eligibility to Compete
To qualify for entry into an event falling under CASC-OR sanctioning and using ASN Canada FIA insurance, a competitor must:
Submit a completed entry form for the event, signed and dated (typically obtained at the event)
Hold a current and valid provincial or state Driver's License, and
The items listed above must be presented at the time of event registration and/or technical inspection at any event.
All competitors, officials, workers, volunteers and passengers must sign the ASN Canada FIA insurance waiver before being allowed into a restricted area (e.g. timing vehicle, marshal post or other non public area) or to compete in the event.”
On needs to be series registered to score points. However, you can compete in an event and not score in the series without being Series Registered or a member of that club.

LOL, I never notice 6.1.1.1 before. In WOSCA only executives are voting members... and not even all of the current executives at that, only the ones stated in the constitution.

So basically to compete I do NOT have to be a member of a CASC club, great! I will eventually join one, but thankfully don't have to just for this weekend.
Thanks guys.

Actually, not ones that vote in your own club's voting, but ones that count for a vote, in referennce to the size of the club.
