Even though I didn't compete I still had a great time.
-Spectating isn't half bad.
-Having no passenger runs does suck :D
-Megasquirt kicks ass.
-Dave's turbo miata is awesome.
Thanks guys for another great event.

1. Wow!
2. I love Pro solo events
3. Pro solos seem to bring a different Ryan to the table.
4. I qualified first in class but then I saw the ladders and well I qualified 2nd Darn MSOC Pact's
5. I treed myself in the fast lane damn I probably could have beaten DD!

1. Leave the driving corrections for the side with the mistakes.
2. The faster side isn't really the faster side.
3. Rain makes the track slippery ... more so.
4. Never give up during a run (see run with DD).
5. Could two thousands be the closest interval of all runs? (see run with Mike W.)
6. I still have a lot to learn (see ALL of my runs).
I had so much fun, this being my first ever Pro. Thanks to MSOC, Loblaws, all the competitors, etc. for making it a fun day. I can't wait for the next one.

This was my second pro, loved it(not the 5 hours between sessions however but thats ok)and the added dimension of the tree and side by side runs.Need to figue out how I qualified #1 and ended up 4th in a 4 car class!:(
Big congrats to Cobra Craig for the class win and overall top dog win to boot,I mean miatas have won enough autox events by now haven't they?.:D

WILA...
1. MSOC puts on a great event! Everything a person needs to spend 12 hours in a parking lot: entertainment with VIP's (thought Kenzie was going to take out the timing box on one run, but if I have to lose the timing beacon killer title, might as well be to him); good food - car still smells like a sausage from parking next to the hot dog cart; and don't forget Joe on the mic!
2. Great course designs...both sides. Don't know which one was faster 4 me, but both were cool once I firgured out where to brake before the carousel.
3. Back 2 back 2 back 2 back (you get the idea) runs put enough heat into R6's that I could go deeper & faster everytime (which certainly helps the confidence level) I'm sure this only means lots of cone carnage at the next event I go to - cold tires and cajones too big for the lack of grip:rolleyes:
4. And best of all, there is still a great core of very tough competitors that come out to these events.
And the next ProSolo is?:D
P.S. To the Miata Dudes (& Dudettes) the car is painted in Mazda Sunburst Yellow ;) You knew there had to be a connection...

1. Wow!
You got it!
2. I love Pro solo events
I think there's a lot more people who feel that way now. Especially the few newbies who ended up very frustrated after coning or o/c'ing their way to elimination. I can guarantee they'll be back for vengence!
3. Pro solos seem to bring a different Ryan to the table. I couldn't agree more. You, DD and a few others showed a totally different game on Saturday.
4. I qualified first in class but then I saw the ladders and well I qualified 2nd Darn MSOC Pact's
Sorry about that. Between me and him, its always the faster guy who stays in the class. I just didn't want to run the car so many times in our small qualifying group..... :(
5. I treed myself in the fast lane damn I probably could have beaten DD!
Which was the fast lane? A lot of lane choices went to the left, but I still think I could have had a quicker time on the right. I know quite a few people qualified faster on the right. And the event FTD (GeoffC from Ottawa) managed to back up his FTD time on both sides.
6. like stephen thong says "it is the best fun you can have with your cloths on"Is that with or without the thong? :p

I was looking at the right side slight incline right at the start and then the large undulating bumps near the end of the course for the big turn around. After it rained the turn around on the right was really greesie(spl) but the left felt the same all day but then of course I red lit and well thats that.

For my first local event of the year that was a good time. Thanks to the organisers. I think the left course was easier to drive, not necessarily faster. Are times available of all the runs?
I was hoping to do better, with prizes on the line, but it's always fine losing to the eventual class winner. :D
We definitely need more pro-solo's!

I prefered the right side but thought intially the left was a little quicker,I know my qualifers were only 2/10's apart lane to lane but it was said the left was an average of 3 seconds faster so....
I took left lane in elimanations due to the straighter start hoping the higher powered cars might have a little more trouble with the added turns and elevation changes on the right.
I would like to see the run times,I suspect as the day went on the right lane caught up(and possibly caught me out:o )

Still have not done a Pro Solo and I don't remember the last time I was at a club event.
During the month of July I have been at the house for 4 sleeps. Most of the summer I am at the cottage pulling my kid around the lake. I spent 10 days in Iceland/Denmark (no cost)!
I ate at one of the top 10 restaurants in the world and spent the last night pounding drinks with TOTO after they got the closed bar to drop a case on the table and leave. Nice to find people that look older than I do!
Funny that a few days later they were playing at RAMA.

Just a note from the MSOC organizers..
We want to give a shoutout and thank Loblaws for the use of their location, Joe T for being an entertaining MC and keeping things alive and interesting for the competitors and spectators, thanks to William Friction for being the title sponsor and supplying the two Civics for the VIP class, and thanks to the coneheads who attended the event!!
Darryl, Ryan and the rest of the MSOC posse enjoy putting on these events, and we’re glad New coneheads represented as well as the oldtimers to show up and battle.
There were some amazing battles and luckily our mechanical judge was able to distinguish the winner, I believe the closest battle came down to 2 thousands of a second!! CRAZY!!
One cool site to see was Jamie K in her Black Miata, back behind the drivers seat with her helmet on. She’s been absent from the sport for 3.5 years, keeping busy with their son and daughter. During qualifying, she displayed some rust, hitting cones going off course, and basically… driving like Miss Daisy.
She looked pale, her hands were shaking, and couldn’t cut a smile if she had to. Then around the 5th and 6th qualifying runs, something happened, she was carving cones, cutting the lights and drove like a crazy mother running late to pickup her kids!!
Paul was there cheering and coaching her on.. one thing overheard between the two, was something like this…
Paul “you know how you smile when you are drumming and enjoying that thing…?”
Jamie “yea….??”
Paul “after a wicked run.. your smile is TOTALLY DIFFERENT!!!”
Welcome back Jamie!!!
We also wanted to recognize Craig in the Yellow Cobra, for winning D Class and earning the recognition of “driver of the day” winning a 200 dollar Loblaws gift certificate and taking home a Williams Trophy!!
Craig didn’t do exceptionally well during the Qualifying session, but throughout the day, his performance stood out and it was obvious things just CLICKED for him.
Being able to place above Stephen for king of the hill, is no easy task amazing stuff man!!
Congrats to the following Class winners
A Class
1st Stephen T
2nd Marsh
3rd Jamie
B Class
1st Darryl
2nd Ryan
3rd Mike
C Class
1st Paul
2nd Toshi
3rd Geoff
D Class
1st Craig
2nd Ryan
3rd Isabelle
On a more personal note.. I just want to thank the people who reached out, and offered me whatever help I needed with my minor mechanical issues.. thanks fellas!!
Also on a cool note, during the D class elimination round, Isabelle exerienced mechanical issues with my POS, and therefore was about to forfeit. I was asking a few people trying to figure out if we could get her a tempary ride..
Then... Out of nowhere.. some dude wearing 73 on his car offered his ride to her so she could finish off and compete for the remaining D Class eliminations.
Isabelle was able to compete in a different car, and finish 3rd in the class
Tom won the first round, and she was able to come back and win the next two!!
She enjoyed the event a ton, and this being her first experience at a proslalom even made things even more cool for her
In a nutshell…
Cool event
Wicked cars
AWESOME people!!
Can’t wait for the next one!!

Need to figue out how I qualified #1 and ended up 4th in a 4 car class!:(
in theory..
-A class cars should be the slow
-B class ... quicker
-C class.. faster
-D class.. crazy fast
because D was under poplulated, and C class was over populated, to keep things fun for everyone in attempts to give more seat time and still be fair
the D class elimination Tree based on Qualifying times
so in theory a D class car should win the class, regardless of qualifying times

1. Don't redlight
2. Don't hit cones
3. Winning a run by .002 is really cool
4. It's weird not driving as fast as possible trying to insure a clean run.
5. I like getting to win something to take home. Especially when it holds beer.

Ahh, the age old request......
I'd love to be able to post the run times for everyone's runs throughout the day, but the reality is that our timing system is only designed to hold 10 runs per car for the event, and we have to use 6 of those just for the qualifying. We do keep the timer on during elims, only so we can track the best time in class for the King of The Hill handicaps.
Of course that was all moot this time, as Craig went and dropped another 1/2 sec during the KOTH hill runs. And he was within 0.2s on both sides.
We'll do some brainstorming and see if we can come up with a good solution for the next pro event....

True dat! But what we really need is more lots at our disposal that are capabale of handling a pro-style course. Bronte, Hershey, Brampton are all great lots, just not very friendly to side-by-side similar courses.
Is this the new PITL lot then?
We're still at Bronte for the last PITL event this year.

Not exactly sure what your trying to say Dave,I was fully aware of the c-class guys getting to run with us and that was cool.I'm just saying I'm not sure how I ended up 4th in a 4 car class after qualifing well, did I slow down due to whatever reason or not go faster and everyone else did or.....Without the ability to see run times I'll never be able to look for an answer.
If I could afford it them some 275-35-15 hoosier A6's would be on their way!:) Since I can't some 710's might find their way to my place before the next pro-I'll try and rule out the slicks going off as a problem.;)
