When I AM filling out the APPLICATION FOR VEHICLE CLASSIFICATION Form
Do I use the dyno rwhp or do I add 14% to convert to crank hp when I am figuring out my WEIGHT TO HORSEPOWER ?

Greg , we use crank HP to calculate wgt/hp ratios so you need to increase rear wheel HP by 14% to calculate correctly . BTW , what did Jordan do to that engine?? Sure seems suprising that he has decided to go to a lower powered better handling car. What is the fun in that ??

Dave,

What class are you running in this year? I think I'm going to be in SGT3 even with the dyno option (thought I was going to be in GT1 with dyno... time to add up the PIPs for the 9th time).

With the last minute changes putting Springs/Shocks/Alignment at 7 PIPs instead of 5 I have had to decontent my car a bit to get down to GT1 but hopefully that won't slow me down much. With all that Ford power you guys should be laughing. The 5.0 responds to mods probably better than any engine out there save the Turbo Skunks.

GT1 , eh? So I not only have to make up my 4 second deficit to you, but pass you with a nice margin to have any hope of getting decent points. Time to get out and practice... horsepower isn't going to save my ass.

Can't go BMW Club racing in a Mustang, now can we? :D

Besides, once Jordan is done with that little E30, it will be capable of showing it's taillights to most cars on the track, even up the backstraight....

I will miss the sound of that car of his though....more of a battle-axe than a scalpel, but it got around Mosport pretty quickly.

Dave

What has been done to that engine is for Greg and I to know and for others to find out....suffice it to say that all of the work was done by a leading CASCAR engine builder.

As for the move to a new car- while my Stang was being built, I drove my E30 on the track, bone stock, and had every bit as much fun as I did in the 5.0. You just find new people to run with.

This season is for chassis and suspension, next season I will address the "power issue" and the brakes.

Everybody knows that lotsa HP just covers up mediocre driving anyway......

:D

Jordan

BTW, anybody know of a Turbo shop in the GTA that has experience with BMW's ?

turbo's and BMW's are 2 words that don't mix....

Unless you go see Marco at Magnus Motorsports.

He's done a couple of them - but they are for drag / street - haven't seen any that are too successful on road coarses around here.

Jordan, Greg has to claim all the stuff done to the engine in the new rules or else use the "Dyno" rule if there are more than 12 engine PIPs and he feels his car is "overclassified" .

OTOH if he can get some power output down then the wgt /hp calculation and suspension pips may put that car in GT 1 which is going to be a big competitive class this year .

There may be other moderately to highly prepped Mustangs in GT 1 which will definitely outpower my car so I guess I will have to use some finesse , something Camaros aren't known for . OTOH a couple of well prepped BMWs and ITRs are also likely in GT 1 and I certainly can't outfinesse those. Should be fun.

I think GM will voild your warranty if you try to finesse a Camaro.

When a car starts out with very little finesse of its own such as a Camaro or even worse a Mustang, it demands lots of finesse from the driver as opposed to something like a Carrera 4 where is seems that no matter what you do , the car won't let you get into trouble. I'm just not sure that even with my best sweet talking I can get this pig to handle and the power card won't cut it this year. Anyway bring on those rice rockets and overpriced Bimmers and we'll see what happens.

GT1 is going to be an absolute brawl! Can't wait to see it! That class could have a different winner every event there's so many competitive cars lumped in there. Mustangs, Camaros, ITRs, Bimmers, and even Nick's stock 350Z! This could be fun...

I don't know how to get rid of my 0.8 PI! Maybe I'll run it a little rich and sacrifice a few ponies. There's nothing wrong with a few flames out the pipes...

I am now only .5 PIP point away from getting into GT-1 witch pleases me very much.
(Jordan`s) My car is very capable of being very competitive against all these cars if only I had the expertise and skill of some of you regular Solo 1 drivers.
How many years have you been doing this Dave b, 15 plus years? That’s a lot of laps.
I can still count the number of laps I have on these tracks
Put Dave b, Dave P, Blair d, Colin j, Joe s, Christian s, Alec c, Jud b and the other good drivers, you no who you are behind the wheel of my car and then it would be fast and competitive.
Me, I don`t think so

Maybe I should let Jordan drive it one last time in a event and then you would see how quick DECH mustangs can be.

Thanks for the props Greg, but it's your car now and you get to WRESTLE it around those twisty tracks that you guys run. I used to avoid Shannonville like the plague in that car. Mosport was a different story....

Hopefully after your first event of this year it's known as "Greg's car". Good Luck with it !!!
