1. I can be one of the last ones off the lot. Drive 3 1/2 hours home (heavy traffic in TO), un-pack the car and reinstall the seat and still start the first post-event thread.

2. The abillity to set an alarm is an important skill for competing in long haul slaloms.

3. Block heaters can pop out in the stop box spraying coolant everywhere, jamming the steering and bring the day to an abrupt end. Who knew?

4. It might be possible to install a frost plug in a parking lot without taking off the exhaust header, but I can't figure it out.

5. A 1 3/8" expanding rubber temporary frust plug will fit a 35mm hole. Thanks NAPA!

6. Straight aways are the great UN-equalizer.

I think I might have made it home before you Marsh but I waited to see who would post 1st.:)
There weren't any long acceration sections on either of those courses were there?
I'm curious on ftd and if Bill held on to it or did Andrew put together a quick clean run. Also wondering if Bills co-driver managed to outrun me with the different tires on his last set of runs.

I learned that a tire budget of $50 for the year(not joking, thats what I spent:o )comes up a little short.:)

Thanks to the organisers,so glad to finish the season with great LONG/FAST course designs-would've been a bummer to drive that far for a 30 second course.

1. AWESOME actually I new that word
2. 3 gear half to three quater throttle slaloms are AWESOME!!
3. So thats what the revlimiter feels like in second
4. down shifting to second now that a neat idea.
5. having to do number 4 but a total of three times in a run is AWESOME!
6. checking your tires after you fifth run and noticing that your front tires are bald(alot balder than a A6 hoosier should be) is not going to make your next two run fast.

Thanks to Danial for making a great course, that was the most fun other then helping at the solo2 school that I have had during an event in a long time.

I learned that a 2.3 KM course and a 84.161 run time = and AVERAGE SPEED of 98.38 km/hour IN H STOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I now officially have the skills to pull a car back from WELL past the point of no return and still clear every gate WITHOUT hitting a cone. Sorry Burl, I really didn't mean to make you guys dive for cover, I had it under control!:)

Andrew R. is a really great and concerned guy. A good sportsman as well. Thanks Andrew!

Mike A. is THE most sportsman like competitor I think I have ever met! It was a pleasure to battle it out with you this weekend Mike, I truly hope we do it again.... soon! Maybe I will bring the Si next year and we can beat up on each other (with Daniel and Trung) in DSP as well as overall.

Although I have had my moments with some over the last couple of years, the Autoslalom people in Ontario are truly a great bunch of people.

V710s that are properly looked after are fast even as they delaminate......

My last run of the season was by far the most intense run and possibly the best I have EVER driven. I was shaking for well over an hour after that run and I haven't had the shakes after a run in years..... I basically corded three tires on the last run .

When the pressure is on, I can truly step up to the plate and pull one run out of my a$$. My last run I managed to beat my second fastest time by 1.2 seconds. Unfortunately it was .5 seconds short of winning pax.

Carrera S Porsches are NIIIICCEEEE cars!

PAX WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bruce and Sandra, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And finally, (well maybe not) if every event on the CASC-OR Autoslalom schedule and every club and every competitor were like they were over the last few events of the schedule this year, I would not have stepped down as the Director. This past weekend was the perfect end to a great season.

Regardless of what people say about the car count numbers this year, there was a great (possibly the best) bunch of people running the series, great competition and with amount of runs we managed all season, in MY opinion it was a fantastic season and I am looking forward to next year (although I am seriously apposed to possibly running SCCA rules, if it comes to be).

Congratulations to all the class winners and to the THREE time Overall Champion, Marshall M! Also congrats to Paul K for having an awesome weekend to take second in the Overall Championship. I almost caught you yesterday.....

1) STLAC + Spudboys = Great combination for a double header
2) More nerve wrackign than the runs were waiting for the cones to arrive (Heart Attack Averted)
3) 2.3Km course on Saturday, straight forward with a couple of technical bits thrown in = Watching a 280Z doing a complete 360... (Nice job Howie)
4) Autoslalom folks are awsome, thanks for the loaner cars!!
5) Carrera S (need we say more).. Mmmmmm
6) Getting reminded of "Pucker Factor" is a good feeling
7) PC Non Drag Launches by Subie Folks, gets superseeded by UBer Drag (75 Meter Drag launch, Sunday) Launch setup by the Non-Subie Club, Thanks Stlac. Bwahahahaha.. That was fun
8) Cottages are cold
9) A bus to the marshalling stations = Awsome Mike A FTW
10) FRS's do not reach distances as advertised
11) This was by far the longest Autox course ever in Canada, most pucker factors in one run.
12) Winery dinner and hob knobbing with the gang after a hard day playing at the airfield = Fun (my kids loved it)
13) I'm tired.. LOL

Thanks STLAC for joining up with the SPADA, we'll top this one in May, won't we...

Andrew pulled it out on his last run and THE last run of the day, thanks for heart pills Joe :D

and sorry to say Tom, Bill did pull it out in the afternoon and nipped past you! Gearing is soooooo important it seems.

1. It's tough to drive hard over such long courses & not hit a cone.
2. To go fast, don't hit cones.
3. Same as #2 X100.

Sorry for hitting so many cones, guys!

Wes, are your tires smaller than stock diameter?
My odometer measured 1.9km & 1.4km, but my tires bulge so much that it might increase tire diameter, making these measurements conservative. Also, my odometer is digital, and only flips to the next "0.1km" increment after the increment is 100% complete, so I think St LAC was more like 1.48km.

Travis, I am running stock rims, but 205/50/15 tires (stock tires I do believe are 195/50/15) so my odometer may be also off a bit. I was told it was 2.3 km on Saturday, but my car read 1.5 km yesterday....

Pete did NOT get his electrical issued fixed. So he headed out yesterday morning in Heather's Mini to come beat up on me in H Stock only to have a wheel bearing go in Mississauga at 5:30 am........

How frustrating would that be........?:(

Crap, what a week for Pete!!

Wes, the smaller couse length makes more sense as I was not getting out of 2nd which is good for about 95km/hr on my car so the average time is to high based on the longer course.

Yep, I think Pete had a very trying weekend this weekend!

If Travis was correct and then the length was adjusted using number similar to what he stated, it still a 2.0 (plus or minus) km course and it would have then been an 85.5 km/hour average speed run in my H Stock car........

Pretty damn quick regardless, and lots of fun!

1. I need to start driving this car harder on the street, breaking things (hard coolant line-run 2 day 1, power steering-run 4+ day 2) at the track sucks, and does not inspire confidence in the car. At least it was able to be driven home.

2. Some competitors will do almost anything to get you back running the event, Mike H drove out to Canadian tire, picked up heater hose and repaired the line all while I was doing timing for the next heat. Many thanks!

3. Two truly memorable courses, too bad my driving sucked, I haven't hit that many cones on a weekend in a long, long time (sorry marshal's). Joe I'll take a super-sized order of no-cone voodoo for next event.

4. I still don't know how fast rev limiter is in 2nd, but I know what it sounds like now.

5. 3->2 downshifts are easier to get right without upsetting the car then 2->1

6. BBQ after day1 a great idea, lets hope we can do this again next year.

Congrats Travis on the bottles of wine this weekend, I look forward to doing battle with you and Pete next year.

Hmm bummer for both of us it seems eh?:)

I'll take grip over gearing, since I lacked in the grip department the gearing didn't really matter much.:D

Haven't done one of these (autoslalom AND WILA) in some time.

1. Watching, from the left hand sweeper, the copper machine wind it's way around the final turns after the bus stop yesterday was sweet.
2. How to do timing.
3. Cliff has an alter ego...that qualifies for the ladies class
4. Hankook Z214's stick pretty good.
5. My brakes don't work well and over-heat when I press both brake and gas at the same time.
6. #5 is why I always wear narrower shoes when driving...except yesterday for some reason.
7. A post event social is a great idea and should happen at every Regional/Provincial.
8. It sucks starting your season with the last events.
9. A good thing about gravel off line is when you lose it and lock'em up, you don't flat spot.
10. A bad thing about gravel off line is when you lose it and lock'em up, you don't stop too quickly and the appoaching car becomes worrying as you think "I should be slowing quicker than this". (Worrying wasn't necessary as there was plenty of space).
11. I can cone most of my runs and not realise it.

Thanks to:
1. J.C./Andrew for offerring their grinder to "fix" my rear hub so I could get my wheel spacer on. The grinder was overkill and potentially deadly to my wheel studs so...
2. ...thanks to Steve P. for having a metal file in his tool bin! Saved the weekend for me.
3. Paul K. for lending me his compressor on Saturday for about five hours to inflate my nearly flat tires. Thankfully it didn't burn out!

It was a great weekend. The course on both days was great. I had an adrenaline high after most of my runs! Thanks Daniel, Bill, SPDA, and St.LAC.

Congrats Travis on the bottles of wine this weekend, I look forward to doing battle with you and Pete next year.

Did I win wine? I left as soon as I could to get a head start on the trip home.

The easiest way to win your class is if all the other competitors have serious mechanical trouble. It also helps if you have a ~30% hp advantage on a fast course.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Cliff & Pete, but thanks for having your troubles simultaneously :p Hopefully you'll have better reliability next year.

wicked weekend!

That was great end to a great year. It was really fun battling with the likes of Mike and Bill for FTD's, it only meant we all got faster! We sure had a bunch of great sports this year which makes it that much more fun.

Congrats to Bill on the great driving on Sunday. I guess you DID design the course... that couldn't have had anything to do with it eh? naw... it was all in the wheel selection right?

That was a surprise and fun little battle for the rights to 2nd overall with Wes and Mike. I think I was 17th o/a going into the weekend. Anyways, sorry for chrashing the party. Wes...great driving on the last lap!

All this fun and I managed to get some great picks of my kids helping out in the pits. My 11 month old girl helping me change tires, and my 3 year old boy pushing the miata to the grid (by himself!) fun stuff!

We knew you were going to be in the mix and you sure as hell stepped up to the plate! If my tires were one event fresher, I might just have got you.....:) Good job!

Yep, I think Pete had a very trying weekend this weekend!

I can confirm that I had one of the worst weeks in memory, when it comes to cars, compounded by some personal stuff that was not so fun.

And, all this when I was supposed to be on holidays!

I ma so very glad that all went well at the event, and I woudl like to apologize for not making it out to either day.

Congratulations are in order to the organizers of the 2 obviously very fun days, and to Marshall, our newest Overall Champion.

Congrats to class winners, and I realy missed you guys.

Now, we just get to talk about next year. :-)
