Now there's an open ended question.

The costs part is easy. It can cost anywhere from $0 to a whole bag full of cash depending on what the club wants to do.

Basically, all you need is a group of people to get together and form a club. What you do with it beyond that is entirely up to the club. If you want to remain a "social" type club then you can just go ahead and do that. If you want to become affiliated with CASC then there are a couple of steps that you need to go through. You can find out more information about the process on the CASC-OR web site at http://www.casc.on.ca/How-To-Be-Affiliated.asp

Setting up a club that attends Solo 2's is easy. You just show up as a group, and hang out all day. That's how HADA started.

Setting up a club that organizes events is a different animal.

I can say, with some degree of confidence, that a Solo 1 is easier to organize than a Solo 2 event. At least from a club standpoint.

Andrew: And insurance. Which is basically the sinch.

Wired might have a timing system (computer and heads) available for rent this season. Saves on your upfront costs.

I would expect you'll find execution of such a project more difficult than you might think.

Insurance, I believe is MUCH easier to get once you are a CASC affiliated club.
It might be cheaper too. I know the rates are much friendlier this year than they were last year.

How true Logan... TLMC has actually reduced the fee to $20 this summer accordingly.
