GRM tests the R-888 against the R1, V710 and A6 in the new issue. The R888 was shaved to 3/32's. Unsuprisingly the V710 was the fastest, the A6 second, the R1 third and the R888 last but all the tires had fastest time within a second of each other, they did have some fittment issues though. Of the R888 they said it was as communicative as the V710 and very consisitent but is lacking in ultimate grip.

The R888 and NT01 are the same compound as the RA1 just in different tread patterns.

I ran the NT-01's autocrossing for a while. They were shaved to 3/32nd's and think they would make a better lapping day tire than autocross. They seemed to take half the run to warm up, but once up to temp, they were great. The biggest problem I found for autocross, is because of the warm up period, it was hard to judje how they would react in each corner progressivly.

My only other comparison is I have been running on a set of lightly used RA1's for that last few events. They were more predictable during the runs, but not as grippy. I also have a suspicion that they may have been stored badly over the winter as I expected more grip from the R comps.
