Due to the recent sale of Molson's Park in Barrie it appears we (TLMC) will not be able to use the Lot at the Barrie Molson Centre for autocross this season. I'm both :( and
So needless to say, next week-end's slalom is off, maybe all of them if we can't find a suitable place. We are currently looking for new digs but if anyone has any ideas / suggestions or knows someone that can help us out please let me know!

I recieved an urgent e-mail from Dave Galos regarding help finding a solo location.I called and left a message for him regarding a suitable location for solo's.
As a TLMC member I'd hate to see the club lose and not find a replacement site.
I find myself getting more and more sucked into this solo scene every year,oh well.
Keep your fingers crossed.

Hey Tom, I can think of a place too, there's this Kart track up north...
Keith, the new owner doesn't need money, they're the government. City of Barrie bought the arena and lot.

I used to work for a the local municipality up here and when I heard awhile ago that the city of Barrie had bought the molson center I was pretty sure that solo was doomed on that lot.
Local politician's don't like uninformed public calling wondering why their tax dollars went to purchase a property that would allow a bunch of meat balls to scream around in cars.Don't forget its an election year this fall!!
Its simply not a matter of money(IMO)purely political.
I haven't been able to hook up with Dave yet to discuss some solutions,I'll continue to work with Dave.

Just to give an update I spoke to Dave Galos last night and then spoke to the bracebridge kart track owner today as per our discussion.
Looks like the first TLMC event will be held at the kart track on May 4th,I left a message with Dave this afternoon with the details but haven't heard back yet.
I just wanted to keep people posted, keep in mind this isn't official as I'm not the one making the decisions,I just like to help whenever I can.:)

We no longer have the benefit of using the Molson lot, however we did quickly com up with a venue for our first event:
Tom Smith was kind enough to help us get the go-kart track that he has used in the past, and we have confirmed the first event will take place there.
Details will be found on www.twinlakesmc.org
We do hope to piece together a full series, but nothing is guaranteed.

Tom, you're the man, thank you, now hopefully my car is out of the paint shop by then...
Nice to see you here Dave, glad you guys could come up with something @ such short notice.
I have been trying to collect some ideas from some people and have had a few leads; Georgian College, Mall in Orillia (I hear the lot near staples is always empty), Joe Sherman was gonna talk to his guy at the speedway... maybe we can piece together a season.
I never thought I'd say this but I wish they'd outlaw Sunday shopping again, it'd be so much easier to find a lot!!!
We should plan a convoy from Barrie, maybe you could meet up with us Andrew.

I think Dave meant to say the event is on May 4Th not the 1st!.I was allmost looking forward to not having an event as I'm not ready yet, damn car wouldn't even run for the last 2 weeks.I fixed that problem yesterday and now have to work on putting it back together in time for next weekend.Hopefully my rear coilover conversions ready for installation this week.
Not sure if the relatively narrow track is the place to test an all new setup?Oh well gotta try it out before the first regional.

Latest news for TLMC events:
Insurance will not be ready for another 2 weeks, (this allows time to finish putting your car together).
We will update the website with more details as soon as we can...
