...for stepping up and volunteering for the position of Solo 2 / Autoslalom director for the '08 / '09 seasons!

Awesome move man... We are at somewhat of a pivotal point in CASC Ontario Solo 2 and you are just the guy to lead us all onwards and upwards!

Thanks for stepping up and volunteering.

Thanks for the good wishes. Yes Doug, it is official. I was elected / appointed at the CASC-OR annual general meeting this past Saturday. I am really looking forward to being of service to what I have learned is a great group of people doing a competitive, fun, legal and safe automotive event.

To start I have the following priorities:
1. Confirm the 2008 Autoslalom committee members, the people who make the Provincial Series run.
2. Confirm the 2008 event schedule with the willing local clubs. These are the people who really make the events happen. I will be arranging conference calls asap and to publish a schedule no later than Christmas. I have participated in some very well run events in the last 3 years and look forward to more of the same in 2008. For 2008 the goal will be to have 6 or 7 events with 4 or 5 counting. For those furthest from GTA doubleheaders will be planned. I will be working to obtain a hotel sponsor to provide lower cost accomodations for travellers. A gas company will also be approached to provide some discounts on travel gas as well. No promises, just hopes.
3. Confirm the 2008 rules by Christmas. Although there has been lots of talk about SCCA rules, it is my belief that it is too late to make major rules changes now for 2008. Therefore, the plan will be to make only minor changes relating to new vehicles, possible class changes or PAX changes and safety related upgrades. More to come.
4. Find a way to encourage more series registrants for the 2008 series. My vision of the Provincial series is that it is a stepping stone for the serious competitors to test their skills against the best drivers in the province on the most challenging courses possible. We would never turn anyone away, novices with less than 1 year of local club experience are to be enouraged. Somehow we need to be sure that the best club drivers will want to participate at the provincial level.

2009 issues like rules, classes, events etc can and will be discussed and resolved in an orderly way during 2008 so that all competitors have ample notice of any changes.

OK, all for now, I very much want feedback and input from all people. I have few preconceived notions and am open minded. The key issue is that we work together to grow the sport and have fun doing so. Remember all these events are run by volunteers and unlike the FIA, no one gets $$ from their efforts. Reach me at:
