At the 2007 CASC-OR Awards Gala Dinner and Dance this past weekend (yes - there was dancing - it was a helluva party!), Dave Barker was awarded the prestigious President's Cup as Regional Motorsports Sportsperson of the Year.

In all his hard work over the years on the Car Classification Committee, as Co-organizer of The SoloSprint school and many other events, as OMSC SoloSprint Director, as a very successful competitor, as mentor and and all-round good guy, he has shown great professionalism, sound reason, and a cheerful approach to getting the job done and making it all work. He is a great ambassador for the Sport and IMHO, presenting this award to him is long overdue!

I raced with (and against lol) Dave from 1992-3 through 1997 when we both campaigned Mustangs in A/superstock and later myself in a Datsun. Dave is a true gentleman and a fierce competitor.

Excellent achievement Dave, congratulations. Just goes to show that a very prestigious award can be won by someone outside of Race. As CC said earlier, it should have been awarded years ago. Your efforts have been much appreciated by the SoloSprint community.

Couldn't agree more! Dave has gone above and beyond being "sportsman like" IMO. In the heated SGT3 battle this year, he didn't hesitate to loan out a set of tires to a fellow competitor just minutes before competition, and free of charge at that! ;) He certainly helped me have a more competitive season.

Think I'm going to ditch the Honda and drive a Camaro just to be more like you. :D
There are advantages ... like having someone else with the same tires as you on race day! ;)
