I can't speak for any of the other stores, but my experience with the Welland store is less than stellar.

I brought to them 4 BRAND NEW rims and tires to get mounted and balanced. These rims are 18" alloy wheels. For that reason, I didn't want to go to Canadian Tire or WalMart to have a minimum wage person doing the job because of their lack of experience in dealing with expensive wheels/tires. Well, when I picked up my wheels/tires today, one of the wheels had a deep scratch in it, along with other minor scuffing around the major scratch. Of course, they denied it was their fault and unless I could prove otherwise, I'm stuck with a damaged brand new wheel. To add insult to injury, they still charged me full price for the work. I even contacted one of the owners of the franchise that works out of the St. Catharines store, and he said that unless I can prove they did the damage, I'm pretty much screwed.

So take it for what it's worth; If you care at all about workmanship and integrity, then the Welland Niagara Battery & Tire store should NOT be an option.

After reading your post I will tell the people in the Toronto area that we just purchased the state of the art wheel mounting and tire balancing equipment from Hunter. The mounting machine is a Hunter TC 3500 Evo series, which ensures no metal part EVER TOUCH a wheel, the balancer is a Hunter GSP9700 Road Force Balancer. We also now have nitrogen available as well. If anyone is interested please pm me

Here's a couple of pics of the wheel. Keep in mind this is a brand new wheel. I even brought them to the tire shop still wrapped in the plastic bag.

Costco baby (if you can't support the sponsors, like Tirecraft for some reason).

This sort of issue has mentioned before in other threads. I think the thing to do, especially if the rims are brand new, is to to take some shots of them before you take them in for any job you want done on them. And when you get to the shop, maybe you should sort of casually mention to them "Oh by the way, I have photos of the rims so I'll know if you damage them." :p

That's damage from the balancer when they tighten down the wheel onto the spindle. I've had that happen to my wheels before.

Could be caused by the balancing technique. However if a bolt pattern plate was used ,probablly not! Wheels can and will get scratched by cardboard, but not that bad. Hopefully you can have this polished out.
