Anybody have some info on the pro solo on the long weekend, wondering if i can show up and run or do I have to preregister?
Also on the PITL site ther was no mention of a fee, anybody know how much?If I have to preregister than I need to know soon and send in the paperwork.
Sounds like to much fun to pass up,although not looking forward to competing against supercharged miata's on hoosiers!.

Sounds great, just making sure I don't have to preregister.I noticed in the event flyer that two drivers can't compete in the same class, one must compete in the next class higher.Well I think I'm in A-mod(I think) so how does that work?

There are only four classes, so one of you would complete in B (there are only four classes: A B C and D).

That rule exists because potentially you could have to race against each other at the same time of you were in the same class.

So one of you would compete in B and one in C.

because of the structure/time etc...

see here for the different classes:

http://www.wiredmotorsports.com/pitl/pitl-class.html

there are 4 classes (structured from the pitl series classes)

A GROUP is combined of the "A and B stock classes"

B GROUP is combined of A & B Modified and B Plus cars

C GROUP is combined with the C stock, C Modified, and C plus cars

D GROUP is open to the kit cars or second driver from the C group sharing a car

In other words... if you had One car in the A class, you could share the ride in all four classes with four different people.

if you have a B Group classed car, you can compete in that class or ANY higher class.

your choice.

after registration, and classing is completed..

A Group will run, with C group marshalling.

drivers will have 2 chances on both sides (ALTERNATING SIDES)
to post their fastest time.

after the group is completed, the cars will be seeded from 1 being the fastest down...

the top 16 drivers in each class will proceed to the elimination round.

1 vs 16 2 vs 15 etc....

the higher seed of the pairing will have lane choice.

best 2 out of three to be eliminated

*note* those who don't make the elimination round, MAY be penciled in to fill the other classes not populated.

its actually more fun, watching a vette go against a smaller a class car....

keep the questions coming..

and if possible, please use the online registration... you don't have to pay until the event, just saves some time

Thanks guys,I didn't find the online registration so I just printed off the registration form-is there an online registration elsewhere?
Look forward to finally giving the old car a beating-see what breaks first/next,also need to shake the dust off this old guys balding head!
The car gets an alignment this week so should be no problem to be ready to have some fun after all the work getting up and running.

I'm 90% sure I'll be there, it's too bad that usually my wife's 10% can override my 90% (she never was good at math).

Anyone else coming from up this way???

I'm assuming there will be plenty of "pit" room?

Ie, room to change tires and leave them once changed?

Strongly considering attendance...

There is tons of pitting area at Square One.

Will there be elevation changes like last time?

tanney

Yes, but is Square One going to be open on Monday?

It looks like all the malls in Toronto will be open to encourage people into the city after the SARS thing!

As our hero Mel Lastman says; "Toronto is open for business"

If that is the case it will get alot of coverage. Make sure to bring lots of tape to section off the course and parking area.

And get there real early,... like Sunday night!

To make sure you are driving around pylons and not parked cars!

I hope to see you there (as a spectator:( )

Eeek.. yeah just excuse the *forbidden phrase* I used a couple of times in that article.. *yikes* :)

I've ceased to use it since, so uhh.. yeah, please follow by example... :P

It's a "head-to-head" AutoX competition in separate mirrored courses damnit!

Yeah it isn't a ''Drag race'' to the first corner. Who wants to see guys run in dresses anyways?

Couple of questions (is this the right place to ask?):

1. Do you allow passengers (with helmets of course)?

2. How strictly is the "letter of the law" followed on classifications?

Based on the class descriptions (by the letter), my diesel Bug (stock) lands in B stock plus (under 2L turbo FWD). I know it's just for fun, and I do enjoy a challenge, but a 3000 lbs 90hp grocery getter against Type-R's and the like is a little (ok, a lot :)) outclassed. Is this one of those cases where a vehicle that doesn't fit into the standard classifications will be placed by the organizers?

Thanks,

-Gord

Compare your torque to a Type-R's torque...

:)

Taylor
05-16-2003, 12:03 PM
No Passengers.

And yeah I would expect the classification to be held to a T. But I'm not a classification official.. so perhaps Dave'll chime in on this one.

Gord
05-16-2003, 01:35 PM
Yeah, I've got a little more torque to play with :). Unfortunately, I've only got a little over 2k rpm's to work with as well. :(

Ah, it'll be fun anyway. And who knows, the Type-R driver may get lost on course in my smoke screen! ;) Just have to make sure the wind is blowing the right direction...

So, which class seems to get the biggest numbers? Based on the article posted above on the 2nd event, it appears to be the B class.

Wes et al:

Mississauga had/has opted out of the exemption to be open on Victoria Day.

There was an article in The Star yesterday...

Mississauga Council decided yesterday not to follow Toronto's lead.

City solicitor Mary Ellen Bench said municipalities are permitted to grant up to five exemptions a year under the act provided it's done in conjunction with a special community event, fair or festival.

But Mayor Hazel McCallion drew a blank when she asked councillors if they were aware of any event that could be used to justify the holiday exemption.

So this shouldn't be an issue. In the end, all that matters is MSOC has a permit to hold the event, so there you go. :)
