View Full Version : 2008 fee schedule
Is there a posted fee schedule for this years season?
What is the ruling on the driving schools? My son has many years experience in SOLO2 and several track lapping events at SMP and some seat time at Calabogie. Does he need to do the SOLO1 school at the DDT in order to participate in a few solo events this season?

you do not need to participate in the school to do the events (even if you have never raced)
but it does help to refresh your skills after the long winter months, also lets you get to know the community and organization style before the real events start out, and you get to beat on your car for alot longer than any actual solosprint event, especialy on day 2 of the school, to this day i dont remember anyone finishing the school and saying "i didnt get enough lapping"
having said that, if you do not go to the school, chances are that you will be required to ride with an instructor during the actual events until the organizers recognize your ability (if any... :) ) and let you drive on your own without you being a danger to yourself and everyone else.

To your answer your question about the fee schedule for 2008, it was reviewed at our last OSO meeting, and I imagine that Chuck will be releasing it in the near future once everything is confirmed.

I am pertty sure that considering his experience, Marc would be considered of instructor level. So, his son would pretty much be bringing his own. :)
Thanks for the reply. Should I keep checking here or will it be posted elsewhere?
The reason I'm asking for a fee break down, is that my son is still in school (UIOT Mech Eng) so his budget is very limited, but he'd like to run a couple of events to get a taste of what SOLO1 is all about. I'm trying to set the hook for the future. He's very familiar with SMP, so we would probably run one of those weekends and/or Calabogie. He's been a passenger at Calabogie a few times and I have instructed there several times. Just want to know if this would be possible. It's been a while since I ran in SOLO1, so I want to see if/how the regs have changed in this regard.
Thanks.

The 2008 Fee schedule will be posted shortly. We are still trying to fine tune the wording and the amounts.
