That's right the Solo Ontario site has been remade and reissued in it's new form (currently available at http://www.wiredmotorsports.com/soloontario). The site offers a number of improvments as well as borrowing the best from the previous site. On that note I'd like to thank Perry for his efforts over the past few years in the hosting and maintenance of the website as well as the creation of a lot of the great graphic design pieces which have made their transition over to the new site and gave me a good base from which to start on for the changes. Also in the spirit of keeping the best the forum is not changing, Steve Cole and Kingston Online Services have done a great job with it. Thanks also go to the aid of ActionFront/Nick Majors in purchasing the forum software for us a year ago.
Most of what has been changed is structure and organization so that there was a place for all the things we felt needed a place. This includes things like announcing and showing the event award winners, a photo gallery, rule and classification updates/changes, competitor profiles and more interactive results involving Provisional Results and Lap Times in addition to Official Results. There is also a spot for the organizers reports to be available online.
That said there are a couple pieces absent at the moment. This includes the Competitor Profiles (which need a registration process developed different from what Wired Motorsports uses), the 2001 Event Results and the information from the "What is Solo 1" brochure to be the front page under the "About Solo 1" section (this is where the rates will appear as well). I've also just realized the car classes are missing from the Lap Time's results. So those need to get put in there too.
On the competitor profiles. The system and database will be the same used on Wired Motorsports (the only exception being the cosmetic layout of each profile). Meaning if you create a driver profile there now, that information will appear on your Solo Ontario driver profile too. So only 1 place to update it for multiple sites. So no need to wait to start on your competitor profile.
Also, the "www.soloontario.com" domain will be reused, it involves a short process which hasn't yet begun, but I expect we'll have a redirect put up there for the time being.
I have done some testing with Netscape 4, I have not "fine-tooth-combed" it yet, but expect that nothing should be missing on that browser.
I'm sure some of you may have some comments or suggestions. Please forward them to taylor@wiredmotorsports.com and while I can not guarantee any changes will occur, I would definately take them into consideration as there are still some aspects of the site that may change or were overlooked.
Enjoy!
