Mazda's 2007 MX-5 MS-R is elgible for C-stock Solo2 according to the SCCA, but the package is offered only on the base 5-speed SV model (no 6-speed models) that we don't get here in Canada. Our base model is identically mechanical except it comes with the same comfort & convenience items as the Sport model in the U.S. (such as fog lamps, leather wrapped shift knob, etc.) so my question is, can I add the MS-R parts to the base Canadian car and still be stock class eligible? What about update/backdate on an 2006/2008 MX-5 since it is unclear as to whether or not Mazda will offer the MS-R for 2008.

Here's a few details on the car:

It's been a bit controversial since Mazda released it last year as the article mentions and the pricing is much higher in the article than it is to Mazdaspeed Motorsports members. Also if anyone from Solosprint's classification commitee wants to speculate where this car would be in Solosprint, that would be helpful too. :)

As of the last rule book I read in detail, NO. As I read it you could import a US model and run it, but you can't do a model conversion to a model not sold in Canada. The other question is could you do a model conversion to a non-MSR miata brought in from the US? The decision on any such decisions is Gary's (director).
