Hey guys,

As the name says I might have to tow my car (an 87 300zx) to the auto cross school/events. Due to insurance "issues" Read: I dont have 7000/yr to spend haha.

Anyway, I am considering Uhaul, but I would much rather see my money go into to the pocket of one of you guys.

SO,
If anyone has a solution, in part or whole Ie: truck and no trailer, or trailer and no truck. I would love to hear it. Hopefully one of the people who attend but dont compete read this haha

I live in richmondhill, which is just north of toronto.

Thanks!!

"Hi CAA, I broke down just outside Poweraide Center in brampton and I need a tow to Richmond Hill.... No, i didn't call this morning to get towwed out here, that's silly."

If nothing else works out, just start calling tow guys in the yellow pages.

Keep playing them off each other until you get a price you can afford. They WANT your business!

With the new stunt driving law, they're already waiting at the side of the highway! lol

I know of one autoxer who left his car at a venue for most of the season so he could just show up and drive. I don't know how the poweraid centre would feel about this though.

Good idea about playing the tow companies off each other, I doubt it will be cheaper than a uhaul though. Only one way to find out!

The quotes made me laugh too haha

Good idea about leaving my car there, I might do that for the weekend, but I couldnt leave my baby alone for longer than that :(

Only 17 days till the school!! WHOHOO!

I think that Luca paid $110 to rent a Uhaul pickup truck and open trailer from Friday night until Sunday night for the Solosprint events last year.

I rented JUST a tow dolly, the kind you drive two wheels onto. It was 40/day. So pick up friday, deliver sunday is 120 bucks.

Okay, it may have been $110 PER EVENT then that I had in mind... since SoloSprint is two events per weekend... that would be ~$220 for truck and trailer for two and a half days.

U haul truck is 19.95/day plus 40/day for trailer. Then 50 cents per km after that, plus gas. I dont live too far from the Gatorade center so it should rape me too bad.

But it looks like my dad is going to agree to insure the car with him as primary, and myself as secondary so I should be able to just driver there.

Would like to keep my options open though.

By the way, dont know if I have met any of you before at the solo 1 school/the one event I made it out to last year, but HI!!

I drive a white 87 300zx, which mostly suspension work done to it (coilovers, poly bushings, tokico shocks, sway bars) And I just finished my first season of ice racing up here in Thunder Bay, where I am at lakehead university taking mech. engineering.

Looking forward to my first year of autocross!

That was Tony from our club who helped you out with the coolant. I was pitted with Rob and Tony, organizing on the second day of that weekend. We thought you had a great first weekend out, and we're glad to see you back this year! :)
