you guys are nuts!!!!
called for rain the last couple of days
look at the news thig morning 100% chance of rain
we set up (still dry out) wondering what the turn out will be like.
105 cars!!!! (imagine how many we would have had if it was NICE out?!?!?!?)
5 runs plus fun runs
licks burger/drink
I can't believe how many people show'd up
crazy.. i think the only people :) ing at the rain were
the Subaru guys
we were able to get one and a bit of the second run without rain.. the rest were in the wet
This course was REALLY tight.. some loved it some hated it... every event there's someone different designing the course.
next event will be designed by someone else..
lots of new faces.. excellent to see new blood coming out!!
oh.. and if you were in ears distance from the tent, we have a new feature with the times..
hopefully we'll have an amp and a loud speaker for the next event

That course was kewl I injoyed it actually. Although the rain put a dampener on the event it was good to see all the old faces again. On my first run I thought I missed something like a part of the course but I didn't it was just a fast course.

when I walked the course I was thinking to myself .."this is going to be hell"... and my first run it felt that way ...but with the water came the fun and I thoroughly enjoyed the time I had out there on the course that was a really technical course that really helped a new guy like myself learn more about driving styles ..
Well done!
while I know the results probably aren't up yet (see as it's only a few hours since the event) is there a website for the PITL series?

Imagine what it will be like in the summer!
You guys ran a clockwork event. Well done.
Looking forward to more! Perhaps by the end of the year I'll be challenging Mr. Cavalier? :p

Keith - you just might. You did a great job of hauling that family 4-door with a "mechanical torque convertor" around that tizzite track.

I agree 100%! Thanks MSOC for a great event, too bad mother nature didn't co-operate, lets hope for dry next time. Wes, I'll get you next time, as long as its dry!

weather bad. course good.
My car info is wrong though. Not driving a Silver Protege5 anymore. It's now 2001 Blue Mazda Protege MP3 (shorten as needed).

Rowan: Yeah as you'll see in the article, the timing system data entry was delayed (mostly due to having to get a power inverter) and then took too long for me to really do a lot of verification (hence why a some cars were missclassed)... plus the registration line just didn't stop. :)
Basically if you were in B-Mod with an Engine swap, you will get moved to C-Mod.
Quote from Wiredmotorsports article:
So in C Mod - Paul, Angelo and Dave took top 3 in the class, Though Paul was blessed with 4 runs in the dry due to timing problems I think his first time was really his first run. Can’t remember for certain. And that was almost a second better than Angelo’s first run, which was a second better than Dave’s first run. In the wet, I would have fit in 5th as well, Paul only took 1 run in the rain, though ultimately it was Andrew in the Bug who was quickest here (by 1 second) no doubt due to the FWD, followed by Daniel in the WRX, no doubt due to the AWD.
Damn andrew, you were faster then everyone in the rain by over a second. If i was you, I would hope for rain at every event! Too bad you got that cone on your second run though :(
P.S. I did not know FWD was faster then AWD in the rain?

JC: Well it's not, but C Mod is generally comprised of RWD cars. :) Those Civics are only in there because of engine swaps. And turbo isn't terribly common in FWD cars so... you end up with anomalies like this when it rains out. :)
Rain messes everything up. Hence why paxing isn't applied in the rain.

C Mod (where Andrew and Daniel are) is mostly RWD cars. Therefore in the rain, any FWD or AWD cars are going to move to the top (well generaly). My "no doubt due to the FWD"/AWD comment is simply a comment over how RWD cars were quickest in the dry and these two non RWD cars were no doubt the quickest (over the RWD cars) because they're FWD and AWD.

k ... im gonna have to disagree with this statement. i personally believe that most of the results are based on the drivers' skills.
For example, you said AWD should overtake FWD, then by your theory ... how come AWD did not place quickest time?
Regardless of weather conditions, RWD was not faster in the first two runs because they were "RWD".
it began to rain.... half way through the second runs, and if you take a look at the beetle's times.. you will see that his average did not change. therefore he was probably still learning the track and if it had not rained at all he probably would have kicked all the RWD's asses and not because he drives "FWD".
P.S You cannot compare wet to dry performances...... but you can compare a wet time slaughter. :D

Taylor,
I was close to FTD in the wet in B-stock, but Carlo in his Impreza managed to sneak by me...
I should mention however that i was on streets as opposed to my normal r-compound boots. The full tread Kumho 712's did hang on pretty good in the wet.

Uhh.. I don't think so.
Sorry Andrew.
======
I think someone is missing the point.
Mechanically, and all things being equal, an AWD car should perform better in limited traction situations than a FWD car. Which we all know does better than RWD.
FWD pulls, and RWD pushes. AWD.. well, they just GO.
Considering the drivers in that class, and considering the two people who were quickest in the wet. I don't feel too bad saying it was the car and not the driver. Obviously considering the WRX with AWD did not beat Andrew, it's fairly safe to say Andrew (as a driver) did a better job. That WRX however, with AWD, should have been able to take him. (no offense intended to Daniel)
Obviously tires play a role as well, but I wasn't about to get anal about it.
Once again, the comment in the article is a reference to the fact that the quickest guys in the wet in C Mod, were quickest because they had FWD and AWD vehicles. Give credit where credit is due, Paul, Angelo or Dave would have taken that class had the conditions not changed. That's basically a fact.
Though I suspect Andrew could be a contender in that class as he's proven to be pretty quick lately.
