Just thought I'd start a thread where we can collect discussion about rules questions/proposals/comments.
I'll start:
#1. Rule 12.5.x.
Any modifications/substitution of turbo chargers - 2 pts. Allowed only in MOD class
I'm assuming this is a mistake:eek: since it's not highlighted as a change. Last year this was allowed in both SP and MOD.
#2. Rule 12.5.xi.
Any modifications/substitution of boost control devices 4 pts.
-and-
Rule 12.5.xii. Change of controller (ECM and/or management chip) where
the ECM also controls boost and/or shift points as applicable.
2 pts.
Doesn't make sense to me. If I can change my ECU that also controls boost I only take a 2pts hit but if I don't want to spend $1k and just add a boost controller I have to take 4pts?
If I recall the purpose of the 4pts hit for boost control was to limit it's use in SS, the "suspension mod" class. If so, why not make it a 2pts hit when in SP since SP is the "power mod" class?
Discuss.:D
These have been forwarded to Pete for clarification, perhaps he can shed some more light on it.

Are the rules online? I can't find them.
Hard to discuss what we haven't seen. The section of the website that is supposed to have them only has Solosprint rules.

If you go to http://solo2.casc.on.ca/info/rules.php all the rules are in .pdf format at the bottom of the page.
Hope this helps.

Ahhh, great. I'll have a look.
I guess the link from here should be fixed then. http://www.casc.on.ca/bulletins.php

My question is RE: Pax for MOD Class. Why is the DMOD pax (0.895) numerically higher than CMOD (0.890)?
In all other classes, the pax gets numerically lower as you progress from A to B to C and so on. The MOD Pax #'s allow the faster, lighter and more nimble cars to transfer from CMOD to DMOD since the Pax # is more of a disadvantage in DMOD vs. C.
Should I be thinking of reclassing to ASS (Catch-all, Sports cars over 2.0 litres NOC)?

The same thing happened to me a few days ago. I asked Jonas to update the link, and I got a response equivilant to him asking me "what the heck I was doing, it is changed!" I went back in, and the listing had changed. Same deal for the schedule.
I wrote it off as something to do with my browser holding on to the old site.
They should be there.

A-SS is going to be hard to get your car in to. The requirements for all of the non-MOD classes are basically series produced by recognized vehicle manufacturer, with a quantity of 1,000 per 12 month period. It will be tough to convince anyone that your car is not a "kit car", or a home built vehicle, even if FF is making more than one at a time.
MOD classes do not necessarily have a progression of speed. If one were looking, C-MOD should be the slowest, as it is a series/closed wheel car under 2.0L, and D-MOD is potentially the same car with an engine over 2.0L. B-MOD would be next, as it is possibly an open wheel car with an under 2.5L engine, and A-MOD could be that same car with a larger engine. This is shown in the PAX numbers.
Does this hierarchy (C > D > B > A) guarantee a speed difference? Of course not, but it is a possibility, and a likelihood, given the same level of prep.
Larger displacement does not require more weight. Likely, but not required.

I see that the Porsche 911's I was told were moved to BSP from ASP haven't been moved.

I'm surprised the turbocharged Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Redline are still lumped with the base models in CS.

Thanks for the insight Pete. It hadn't been explained to me in that fashion before. Makes sense.
Having the FFR's in the SCCA MOD classes was also an issue (bear with me, I am no expert on SCCA Classing) and they did allow FFR's to be run in XP and BP I think. This was done through a petition by the competitors in the US. Me, being a petition of one, will just leave it alone and continue to have fun!

Can somebody list the sponsor decals that we need this year? I have all the ones from last year, just want to make sure I don't leave any new sponsor out of the FTD photos. :D
Thanks,
Tashko.

And, if I'm not mistaken, the PAX didn't change when they were added either, and the CS pax is plenty competitive in my experience.
