The OSO SoloSprint Committee has decided to reclarify this rule. We want to make it as simple as possible for you the competitors to understand. It is imperative that we are all on the same page before the season officially starts. You will display the class (and tires) in which you are actually competing.

Consider the following 3 scenarios and then apply it to your own car:

Scenario 1 - If your car is classified in GT1 and you are running on premium R compounds (ubers), you will display GT1 on your car.

Scenario 2 - If your car is classified in GT1 and you are running on non-premium R compounds (-ve 5 PIP's), you will display GT2-R on your car. You will be running in, and be scored, in GT2.

Scenario 3 - If your car is classified in GT1 and you are running on street tires (-ve 10 PIP's), you will display GT3-S on your car. You will be running in, and be scored, in GT3.

We apologize for the confusion and hope that this clears up this matter.

I think this is a good clarification.

This is brilliant news. I have run (4) events in the past in two different cars, always running street tires. Obviously my results were less then stellar as most people in my class ran slicks. This definitely reduces my cost to compete.

I agree that racing compound tires are better suited to the track, but I think that a good set of street tires are safer for the weekend warrior (I.e. someone that is not running every event). The street tires audibly indicate (Squeal) when they are at their limit, before the car begins to slide out. Watching other people and experience in karting, the racing compound tires don’t seem to make any noise, they just seem to let loose, although perhaps easier to recover from then with street tires.

Regardless, good news. Now if only I could get someone to re-class my 2001 Mustang Bullitt from SGT3 to GT3 where it belongs (Base horsepower is 265 not 420).

You should then refer to the next thread in this forum ;) :

Unfortunately I did back in August 2008, just thought I would leave a reminder.
