Everyone start your engines!!
Hopefully you have had enough time to prep your car, and are ready to take on those cones!
Event #1 at Mosport DDT, Hosted by OMSC, is sure to be a great starter to the series.
Generally a favourite among us coneheads, we get to get out of second gear, and stretch your car's legs, before the Huge Picton event!
The event cost is $35, and does not include lunch, however OMSC is trying to get the canteen open.
So, Get pre-registered, AND OR see me at the event, and make sure your car is ready, as there will be scrutineering.
See you on Saturday!!!!

Is this just an autox or a lapping session?
Is this just an autox or a lapping session?
There are 2 events happening at the DDT this Saturday, the OMSC Provincial event, and a lapping session on the lower portion of the DDT.

Um, JUST?
Yeah, As was commented on by many this past weekend, Auto-x is for the coordinated, as your response times get slower, you migrate to SoloSprint
AND, I forgot to mention!!! NO MARSHALLING!!!!!!! at this event!!

I don't understand. Is this event on a track? No cones?
I would classify it more along the lines of driver's skill vs. intestinal fortitude.

Yup, on the top 1/2 of the Mosport DDT, there will be cones, but OMSC supply's marshals.
The cones are there to keep you off the grass, and to direct you through the course. The DDT has some options in its layout.
So, fast, fast and fast.
Did I mention Fun?

This sounds fun! I think I am going to make it out.
Rollcages/roll bars are not required for convertibles right?
And quick question about preregistration. How do I know what class my vehicle is in?

Hmmm, cones to keep you off the grass, novel concept. Will they REALLY work this time, or will I have to brake earlier for the first left-hander?
How I hope the weather forecast changes for Saturday

Ack! Last time I looked it was still sunny.
I'm sure it'll change twice before Friday but I'm glad I have my full tread depth RA-1's on the car right now.
One less tire change to do!:D

Post your mods here and we can help you class your vehicle, or you can look at the link below and download the rulebook, it'll show your base class, and there's a worksheet that you can use to count the points based on your mods.

We've been there before. The top half is glorified go-kart track. I don't think I've seen anyone get out of 2nd gear before. There will be cones to restrict lines at apex and entries and typically before the faster straights.
Oh, and I picked up some SPF50 to share with the course marshals. I remember the poor lobsters that came off the track the last time OMSC held a provincial on the DDT.

I was hoping I could get some help classing my car for Saturday?
I drive a Civic SiR with a Japanese spec Type R with low final drive transmission and limited slip differential and Koni Yellow adjustable shocks. For tires I will be running RA1's. I know I am in Mod but not sure what class in in Mod. Hope this makes sense. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I was also wondering what time registration opens?

Schedule is as follows:
8:00-9:15 Registration
8:30-9:30 Course walk
9:30-9:45 Drivers Meeting
10:00 1st car off
4:00 End of last run group
4:10 Driver's Meeting
And it all depends on displacement, as to which MOD group you place in. Perhaps someone knowledgeable about Hondas could answer this question

Andrew, it's a 1.8...

Then my guess would be C-MOD
Anyone else?

Hey Tod,
Is the block, stroke, and crank the same between the SIR and the JDM TypeR? Do you think he can fit within the 4 points for internals rule or update backdate? Sorry, I don't know much about Honda's, I'm just exploring the options, perhaps getting him back into SP instead of Mod.

The problem is that there is a change in stroke. I don't necessarily agree, but there has been a large contingent at the National level (and then us, as we use a derivative of that rule book) that believes stroking an engine can lead to huge increases in power. In reality, stroke affects torque more than hp.
Years ago, internal engine mods were "ALL", but now, the only way to change the stroke is it is possible in the model interchange possibility. Otherwise, all stroke changes are put into MOD.
Regardless, the 1.8L puts this car into CMOD.

Ok Pete,
Good catch. Sorry Kim (possible), I should have read the name.
But, you're in luck, now that Pete is here, and he's the Rules Guru, he can help clarify the question above.
Thankie.
Pete, your turn! :p

Aaah, how blind I am.
Kim's board name at the HADA board is "kim possiible", I had the chance of meeting Kim, again, this weekend at the Solosprint school.
Thanks mon..

Not that I'm complaining but I thought we had banned solo 2 events on circuits?.

As long as it meets the requirements of minimum distances with regarda to fixed obstacles, and meets the course design requirements, its all good. OMSC puts together ultra concervative courses that are safe.
Besides, if cars regularly run the DDT without a speed limit, I really think that a modified course using cones is much much safer regardless.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm sure it will save me loads of time trying to figure it out on my own! Sorry about the name confusion, I've tried with little success to change my log in on this site. Joe, I'll forgive you this once for calling me a guy, however, next time it happens you better sleep with one eye open! ;)

Also bear in mind that the chief steward (who also has vito power on course design when it comes to safety) is the person who (to my knowledge) holds the record for most damage done at an autoslalom at the DDT. The last time we were there it was quite safe.

Especially if you include the compound damage, done by the co-driver, as well as potential helmet damage. :D

I missed out too :(.
Anyways, I need help classifying my friend's car and my own car for future events.
Nissan 240sx Convertible
- weight is considerably more than the coupe and hatchback counterparts at a tad over 3000lbs
- stock 2.4L DOHC I-4 (KA24DE) with a 5spd manual
- Tein Flex coilovers
- Hankook C30 RSS R comps on heavy ass 17*9 wheels
- Front STB that connects to the firewall and 4 point underbrace
Thats about it for performance mods. And my friend's car.
1984 Mercury Marquis Wagon
- we're guessing it weighs in around 3500lbs
- 5.0L carbed V8 and 5spd from a Mustang has been swapped in
- lots of shiney stuff in the engine bay lol
- bolt on crap like headers, full side exhaust, edlebrock carb etc.
- don't know much about the motor but he says around 250hp and 300 ft lbs of torque
- twin piston Cobra 13 inch brakes at the front and single piston Mustang GT brakes at the back
- street tires on 17*9 wheels
- tokico non-adjustable shocks
- aftermarket control arms
- lowering springs
- frame rails welded in (car was originally connected front to back by thin floor boards)
Well thats about it. Sorry about the lack of information on my friends car. SO what classes would we be in?
