Last Sunday I was on to a good thing.
As the only competitor in Touring 3 I was sure to win my class, for the first time EVER! Dreams of glory inspired my brave and skillful driving and I burned up the time sheets. By late afternoon I had overcome heavy opposition, 100 points was within my grasp.
"This small class was paxed, 94.4 points"
PAX sucks!
Possibly I need a Nissa...or a Honda!

the pax gets you every time....
you have to get more people to come out in your class...

Actually i love PAX, the only reason why i got full points for the first event and also a poll position award. Perhaps the values for your class are a little high? Over the winter we'll(CCC) evalute some of the PAX numbers and check if they are outta wack

Too true, Simon, too true! :p

No, I don't think there is anything wrong with the classification; in fact I think the system is working really well.
We just don't have a lot of entries in the lower, and slower classes. Although there are quite a number of new entrants this year many of them have cars which fit in the GT category, unlike a few years ago when novices often had "entry level" cars with little or no prep points.
What we might consider is consolidating the Touring group into 1 or 2 classes. There seems to be some overlap in the times anyway, and with the different types of tracks, i.e. DDT compared with Fabi or Cayuga, it is unlikely the same cars will have an edge at all events.
This is just an observation on my part; I am sure some will disagree....

Prior to the implementation of the PAX - Small classes had almost no chance of ever getting 100 points (unless you could proposition the next class up). And if there was a really good driver / car in the class above you - you were stuck.
Small classes were never scored out of 100 - but only 97.5 (with 2 entries) and 95 with one.
PAX gives you "a chance" to get 100 - that never existed before. So it really doesn't take any points away from you - it just gives everyone a shot at 100.

You're right, Nick. The original comment was intended to be humorous, but the suggestion about consolidating the smaller classes is intended to be helpful.
Obviously the best solution to small classes is to get more people out to events, it's more fun to have other cars in your class to race against than to be alone against the clock!
Maybe I'll have to get a more suitable car!
