View Full Version : WILA OMSC Event 1 Provincial
1) Civics can make great rally cars (in the rain)
2) VW Scirocco's can dance the Ballet
3) Twirling can be done without Tutu's
4) Driving on the DDT in the rain brings back memories of WRC (Kay left slippy, double caution, into kay right, don't cut)
5) Figure Skating & DDT in the rain = same sport
6) Big fat family sedans can hold onto FTD (in the rain)
7) Little tiny skinny sports cars driven by Jesus = Yields divine intervention, the sun came out at the last 2 runs!!!
8) See number 7 above - Jesus for FTD
9) I'm changing religions
10) OMSC = Fantastic crew + Fantastic events + Fantastic Day
Thanks OMSC for a fun filled day, with lots of friendly competition. 6 official runs + lunch break + fun runs at the end of the day, yet still being able to leave by 4:30

I echo Joe in thanking the OMSC for outstanding work for this event. We actually had 7 official runs despite the rain in the am.
Against all odds, all competitors somehow managed to hurt the landscape in spite of numerous fun offs and spins.
Hats off to the CASC-OR committee for their efforts in keeping the event on time and fun, which is most difficult to do at the 1st event of the season.
Don't forget to pre-register for the Picton double header on May 31/June 1. You won't want to miss it.

1) No car is immune from being tested for rallying.
2) Same as 1, but use "driver".
3) Being competitive in your class is addictive.
4) See 3, but add "for the first time".
5) Competition to be at the top of your class is even better when you're swapping within 0.2 seconds of each other.
6) Winning your class adds to 3, 4, and 5.
7) See 6, but add "for the first time".
8) Having your first run on the year on a wet track certainly sharpens up the senses and makes you realize that it's been a long time since the last event.
9) Finding yourself near the top of the overall time sheet after that first run, and ahead of JoeT ( ) when you've never even been close to him time-wise in the past = surprise of the day.
10) One Victor brother talks more when co-driving; the other is rather quiet :D
11) One co-driver seemed to be the common element for a certain group of drivers having a go at rallying.
12) Even considering the changing conditions, it is amazing to see everyone's times drop so much between runs.
13) No pine trees to be found in proximity to the DDT.
14) OMSC put on a great event. Thank you OMSC and special thanks to the marshalls, some of whom proved very nimble and probably had more pucker moments than the drivers did.

1) Even if you keep A032R's indoors and don't abuse them they will still get hard.
2) R888 come in multiple compounds (who knew?)
3) If you have two brake lines and two fuel lines all mounted next to a frame rail on the under-body a cone can and will take out the line closest to the frame rail and most protected.
4) A first gen miata still has at least 3 good stops left in it after rupturing the right rear hard line.
5) crimping off a rusty 15 year old hard line does NOT make it leak less
6) A CAA tow truck can drive all the way to Brantford before his dispatcher realizes he's no longer in Whitby and gets mad at him.
7) When the newest car you own is over 10 years old it's a bad idea to only keep one of them road worthy at a time. Fortunately CT has the parts to fix the Honda in stock.
Big Thanks to Mike for hauling my car to his house so I was within the free distance for CAA.

Hey all, thanks for the great positive comments. It was a great pleasure putting on an event for a fantastic group of people. :D It was really nice to be driving the car with the last amount of power and successfully hold a top ten spot, (top five for the first two runs) until it started to drive out. Rain, the GREATEST equalizer. We will hopefully do it again next year! I may have the mud out of the CRX by then....................
Thanks again to the regional competitors for making this event a real success.:p

R-888's in differing compounds?,says nothing on the toyo site bout that.
If they do in fact come in a hard/soft compound with my luck the new set that'll be here this week will be the hardest they make.:)

That's what Joe told me on Saturday...

Yup, Europe, Japan gets the 3 compounds. We get 1, but it's not bad, it's the medium compound. The compounds below are the most popular, the "uber" soft is sold but on special order only, and not in the USA.
SG - Soft
GG - Medium

1. There's something very satisfying knowing that you're not the subject of all the 'Rallying' talk in this thread. :D
2. Who knew that little orange cones could keep you on the track?
3. It's great being able to take 26 seconds off your time between your first & 7th runs...
4. You can buy all sorts of go-fast goodies for the car, but it turns out the $119 Easy-up from Wal Mart was the best off-season purchase.
