View Full Version : Picton Weekend - Roll call ESP and DMOD

Since many people don't seem to be using the pre-registration feature at http://solo2.casc.on.ca/registration/index.php#
I thought I'd post a thread.

I've been toying with the idea of running in DMOD instead of ESP since the turn out for ESP is low. I think there were more consistent competitor turn outs last year in DMOD.

So, who's showing up in ESP or DMOD?

*I'm assuming my car will be ready by the end of next week...fingers crossed.

my car may be ready :)
If so I am in DMOD - but remember it is 36 years old now!

Hoping to make it ONE of the days..

By considering this move I'll take that as confirmation that the current CASC Mod class rules are "ify"!? With no minimum weights (as in SCCA) it's kind of a free for all. Last Week we had a pressurized Golf, Craig's Cobra and Me...a span of at least 150hp and 1000lbs between competitors
<<mini rant off>>

Yeah come up to Da Mods we'll have a blast!!:D

The issue is that the number of classes can get really big. As long as I were in the same range, I would be happier with a 6 person class than 3 2-person classes. Of course I would prefer to be at the top of that heap, but that is just me. :)

We just do not get enough competitors at our events to support the number of classes that the US guys use.

Hey Tashko, it is a quiet weekend here in Quebec for autocross, maybe you can drum up some participation on our forum.

I may make the trip down.

What are the details for this event and costs....schedule etc...

is it posted somewhere?

I haven't been on CADL in a few months...it was quiet. Has everybody come out of the resto-bar now? :)

OT:
Maybe somebody should start a poll asking people to class their cars for SCCA to get an idea of where everybody would be now and if they would change their prep for SCCA and what class.

WAAAAY off thread. :)

IF you attended the first event, you would have been asked for your input. We shoudl start another thread, or something, so that this does not spiral out of control.

Actually, I don't find it very surprising. In Solo, it is not uncommon to have a "car of the year" thing happen in a class. Generally speaking, they will be newer, more modern cars. As the older cars become less competitive in Stock, they move up the prep level, to take advantage of more modern technology.

This happens in Road Racing as well, where Showroom Stock cars are quite new, and then they move into Improved Touring or Production classes.

Also, I cannot imagine taking a 2 year old car, and cutting and welding stuff, to compete in MOD.

Yeah I'll be out IF the whole induction thing I've contrived actually works.I've been burning the midnight oil in the shop of late,if things go well I might be able to see if it'll run sometime this weekend.Trying hard to have it driveable for the next TLMC event on the 8th.

Tom, sit back, relax. No need to hurry out to Picton OR TLMC. I've got it all under control :D

Looks like I won't be at Picton...!$@*%$#* RAIN! Oh did mention I should spend at least one full weekend at home. Grass is looking pretty shaggy and I've got to get on Mum's good side

I'm saving my Brownie points for the rest of the summer.

Sorry Craig, can't do it-I didn't quite make it to midnight tonight as its ONLY 11.I've called in favours from a mechanic friend to wire tomorrow night along with my machinest friend of 25 years to fab up the parts needed for the custom distributor swap.We might actually pull it off if nothing goes wrong-but you know my luck so....
Btw my offer to warm your tires still stands.;)

Craig, make the brownie weekend another time. Picton will be huge! Great for your car and no tires to hit. Rain will be done Friday.

Come on out and play!

Craig...

[trash talk on]
You chose the right colour for that garter snake er Cobra, "Yellow" aka Chicken. If you bring it out, we'll promise lots of grass where it can run and hide. Besides, there'll be real cars out there this weekend, Doug is bringing his Camaro out specifically to beat up on that blue oval of yours.

You're not going to let him win by default, are you? Eh... Mr. Yella
[trash talk off]

Come on out to play, you'll have a blast, besides, where else could you "not" run into anything? :D

Craig - ouch..... those are fighting words....

That being said I have 0 miles on the new engine and the power steering rack is not working - subaru parts :(. Chances of me showing up are diminishing quickly.

Last fall in Picton were the best events I have ever been to, except maybe loosing the 2006 Nationals by .063 of a second combined time. :(

That was even considering my roomy did not make it, I slept in my Camaro (to old for that shit) cops woke me up at 4am, and when I did get a room the next night there were no blankets or heat and the temp dropped to 5 degrees. I was warmer in the car.

Picton will be great, I hope the new ride stays together. Putting pieces back together today.
