Hey, I just found this message board (is there a link to it from the main Solo 2 website?), just wanted to say hi. I was at the HADA event last weekend, driving the Blue Lexus IS300...

I had a great time - I'll try to make it out to at least 3 or 4 more events this year, although unfortunately I cant make it this weekend.

I was so happy to have actually won my class, until I realized Keith in C3 smoked all of us by 4 seconds :( I'm already getting that 'gotta get some racing tires' feeling, after only 1 event....

Speaking of which, does anyone know for sure if the rules next year will cost a point for smaller-than-factory sized tires?

Thanks,

Andy K.

Sorry bout that Andy  But it's the only way I can get full points, since I'm in a 1 person class :(

Anywho, I was in your position last year, 1 event and I was hooked. R-tires will definitely take off a couple of seconds (maybe more) and try and take a Solo 2 school as well. I did, and it has helped me huge.

Hey, no problem - it gives me room to improve :)

I did actually take the Solo2 school this year, which was definitely worthwhile.

I'll probably pick up a set of Victoracers, but I want to know if I should get 16's (which is the same size as factory) or 15's (which may bump me into C1)...

Victoracers are a good choice. I don't think a smaller tire size will bump you a class this year, but I can't speak for next year.

It is rumored that we will be going to the CNAC Rules (National) in 2004, but nothing has been decided yet.

Andy: Could you actually fit 15's on the IS300? From what I remember of the car (when I test drove one, and eyeballed it and all that) the wheels were filled out fairly well with all sorts of braking goodness.

I'm not sure if it's changed, but the rule was that R-compounds were a point, and non stock rims were a point, but your allowed 2 points in stock (or something like that).

Just looking at them again it may be tight but I think I could fit. I'll give the dealer a shout and get the official answer. Maybe I'll have to go 16's anyways...
