Hi Guy`s. could someone please help me out classify my 1992 Mustang coupe.

I got my license last year at Horizon Racing School and my casc license.
I was hoping to hit at least 4 or 5 Solo 1 events this year.
I have been reading the rules, but the more I read the more confused I get.
Brain meltdown.

Engine mods:
Ford Cobra intake and throttle body, which is stock on the Cobra R
Ford under driven pullies

Drivetrain:
Performance springs
Anti Squat Brackets
Koni sport shocks
3.55 Rears gears, up from stock 3.08
Aluminum drive shaft
Rear disc brake conversion, done by Ford, when
the car was purchased new.
Performance Brake pads
BF Goodrich TA 255-40-17
17X8.5 Rims
Performance Alignment
Skirt package, front,rear and sides.
P.S. Your help would be greatly appreciated, and hope
to see you at open house and on the track.

OK, I'll give it a shot:

Your basic car falls in the "Ford Mustang 8cyl 79-93" group and would be in A3 if it were stock.

The intake manifold and throttle body are together 1 point.

The underdrive pullies are an authorized mod in Super Stock and above.

The springs, along with the alignment, are 3 points.

The Anti Squat brackets are 'Other Suspension mods' and are 1 point.

The Koni shocks are free

The 3.55 diff ratio is 1 point in Super Stock, free in Street Prepared.

The aluminum drive shaft is a Street Prepared only authorized mod that costs 0 points, if the car is Street Prepared.

The disc brake conversion is free.

The brake pads are free.

The tires and wheels are free.

The skirt package is free as they are of equivalent or greater weight than what was there before.

This adds up to 6 points. A3 cars are allowed 8 points in A/SS2, 11 points in A/SS1, and 15 points in A/SP.

The only fly in the ointment is the aluminum driveshaft, which would normally put you automatically in A/SP.

I would recommend applying to the Solo 1 director for special dispensation to have your car allowed in A/SS2 even with the driveshaft mod.

Even if it got counted as 1 point you would still qualify for A/SS2, so I'd bet that your application would be successful.

Dear dech -92 , I have no problem with you runinng in ASS2 with or without the aluminum driveshaft . I certainly hope you have some good weld -in subframes in that car though as well as a G load brace and probably a strut tower brace , all legal in ASS2. I used to run an '89 LX hatch in the equivalent class for years without the intake mods or gears and unfortunately our "Director " has still to beat my times in his albeit overwgt GT .
