Goodwood Festival of Speed

I somehow managed to convince my new wife that it would be a good idea to spend a day at the Goodwood Festival of Speed while on our honeymoon in the UK & France. It is easily the most incredible automotive/racing event I have ever been to. For those of you who don't know what it is, it is an event that brings together modern race cars (F1, Indy, rally, touring, LeMans, etc.) with the same types of vintage cars, exotics and motorcycles. All of this combined with a hill climb and rally stage, so the cars you get to look at, you also see on the track. Truly an amazing event. I saw tons of cars I'll never see here in Toronto, or even North America. Should you ever have an opportunity to attend, I highly recommend it.

I would love to go there sometime. They have rally stages to that's sweet. What's with that red Formula car near the end with all that Neg Camber?

Goodwood is on my list of places to go.

This is much like my visit to the vintage races at Laguna Seca years ago. We were already booked, company paid, for 10 days in Carmel. I saw the racing was the weekend we were leaving so we extended the hotel for a few days. Fantastic weekend! They have the auctions, tour on the streets, racing at the track, lots of dinner events. That was the year Saleen released his car and Shelby was there. Full pit access, I counted no less that 20 REAL Cobras hitting the track. Maserati had a parade lap of private cars, almost filled the whole track. The best was the one that simply burst into flames on corner 5. ??

Both events are a must for any car person!
