Hi all. If a car came with 14" rims, and the same car but another model came with 15" rims, would I be able to run 15" rims?
Let's go Neon specific. A Neon is a "GS" car. No matter if it's a base model SOHC or a Koni equipped ACR. So, could I take the shocks off of an 1997 ACR and put them on my 1999 base model?
I think this is called updating/backdating, but I'd just like to be sure first.
Thanks,
Mike

Assuming you mean regional rule book, because many clubs use their own little rule books.
-Shocks are free, you can do anything you want but you have to keep the stock springs. The replacement shocks may have up to two external damping adjustments and no more. Springs etc. must be stock.
In general you cannot up-date back-date in stock. The ACR is considered a separate trim level and you can't just swap parts from it or any other trim level onto your car. You are allowed to do a model conversion. That is you can have ACR wheels and springs, if you also change EVERY single trim piece, heat shield, engine, transmission mounts etc, etc. from and ACR. Excluding, of course, things that are free modifications like shock absorbers and cat back exhaust.
To give you an example I have an M-edition miata. Everything on my car was available on another leather package trim level. I can swap me seats only with the leather package seats from the other trim level. If I want cloth seats I have to convert my LSD to an open diff in order to claim the model conversion.
-Now as to wheels. As stated you can't just use another size wheel and claim stock. But you can use ANY size wheel and take the prep-point for changing wheels (almost always worth the point if your car has narrower and/or larger diameter wheels than it can fit).

Wouldn't you have to paint your miata a non m edition colour and peel off your M badges?
