Well no sooner to we solve one problem when another comes barelling through like retired couple at a Woodstock Solo-2.
ASN no longer insures any events outside of Canada, meaning we have no insurance for Waterford. We hope that something can be changed for next year, but as of now there will be no lapping on Aug. 4th. Our sincere appologies to anyone that had planned on attending the event.

Bummer.
Insurance Companies are getting out of hand.
When will our governments finally put the clamps on them like banks?! (Well in Canada for the banks, in the US... the banks get away with alot of odd stuff.)

Oh man, that so stupid. I wonder what the reasoning is behind that. It's not like the insurance company has more exposure insuring an event at Waterford Hills vs. Mosport.
there's a lot of cross-border politics going on in motorsports these days. There's a thread on the Teutonic board about the NY SCCA region cancelling a race weekend at Mosport due to "geo-political and SARS concerns". Ricockulous!

True!
Let me give you a personal example. I recently got engaged and so my fiance called her aunt in California to tell her. Now, we are in pretty good relations with her aunt and have stayed at her place a couple of times on trips to Cali. Anyway, her aunt asked if we had a date in mind and then proceeded to tell us that we shouldn't do it too soon because, and I quote, "it's too dangerous and nobody wants to come up there and die from SARS."
Riiiiiight.
What exactly is the US media feeding our southern neighbours?

Yeap, I have a client in Cali that was supposed to come up, but cancelled due to SARS.

We have American visitors flying into Buffalo and Detroit and then driving into Cambridge instead of flying into Toronto.
can you imagine the hysteria that must have run wild during outbreaks of the plague in London or Paris back in the day? Nutty!

I'm staying away from Toronto just to avoid all those people going to see the Rolling Stones.

Rob...too funny.
On a side note ,I have a friend who has a girlfriend in Sanfrancisco
He talks to her about every day from work. She was freaking about the SARS situation inTO.
This lady happens to have a medical problem which requires weekly attention. We aked her(based on reports we had read ) To ask her Doctor (who she has been with for the last 15 years and ocassionaly does the lunch thing with her) to find out how far spread SARS was in the US.
His reply,Cant talk to you over the phone about this, but if you want to hook up for lunch i will fill you in.(get youre minds out of the gutter).
What she was told is bassically every state in the US of A has SARS.
But the US administration has deemed it irresponsible for the medical communitie to report on such things that may possible effect their immage.
Dont take me to court on this, i am just relating a third hand scenario.
