Which wrecker?

I need to get an automatic transmission for my 2000 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4WD, and was thinking of going to a wrecker. I'm looking for suggestions on who you've had good experiences with.

The truck has around 180k on it, and its lost OD. Also, the O/D Off light starts flashing after running for anywhere from 5-20 minutes. I couldn't read a code with my el cheapo OBD2 reader. Do I need a more advanced reader, or do these codes not go through the OBD port?
