First question- I was wondering where the mods that i am doing to my car would place me? The car is a '78 Mustang II fastback, and the mods are pretty extensive, so i will just list the basics.
- fuel injected 5.0, usual bump in displacement, and breathing tricks.
- the car has (or will be) lowered
- roll cage
- 16" wheels
- Brake upgrade
- 1" front sway bar, and 7/8" rear
- so on and so on.

I realize i will be outclassed, but i am not looking to win what ever class that i am in, i am only looking to have fun and improve my handling abilities. The car isn't finished yet, but i am sort of going for a cross trainer type. I hope to run in Solo II, Drag race, and maybe even enter some roadracing and still be road legal!

Second question--- The car currently uses leaf spring rear suspension and i was wondering what would be the best style of rear suspension for my use? I am open to almost anything, short of something exotic like independent rear suspension.:p

Thanks again for all your help.

Your car starts out C2 when stock, allows up to 6 prep points in C super stock and up to 13 in C street prepared.
Sounds like the car would likely end up in CSP with all the mods, you'd have to study the rules and list the mods and add the prep points to be sure though.
I wouldn't say you'll be outclassed, you never know untill you give it a go.I'm not familiar enough to suggest any improvements for rear end of the mustang however.

I will try to remember to check tonight at home.
It was 1 - 2 years ago there was an article on a solo racers Mustang2. This was a seriuosly impressive car with custom built rear suspension. I personally am not really into these cars but I am a car nut and will ALWAYS give credit where it is due to impressive workmanship and ingenuity. I've even seen some "Rice" machines that have impressed me..Anyways ...I am getting off topic. If I find the issue of GRM I am refferring to I will send you Dig.pics of the article and look forward to seeing you at events.

I believe Baer (maker of Baer Claw brakes) has developed a bolt in rear independent system for the Fox body Stang. If memory serves they have won a lot of races with it. You did mention that you didnt want to go this far but all info is good for a car nut.
I also dont know if they make this to fit the M2 or not.
Email me with your email address so I can send the article I mentioned previously.
