Mark May 1-3rd, 2009 for the Mitty at Road Atlanta on your calender if you are a fan of Group 44, Bob Tullius, Bill Adam, Hurley Haywood, Brian Redman, Chip Robinson just to name a few and ofcourse those white and green racers they raced to victory in Trans Am & IMSA over the years. The Group 44 Reunion will also make a stop at the 2009 Amelia Island Concours where the cars will be featured in march.

Hey Steve,
Bring that cat out west next year!
HMSA have just announced they will feature IMSA and those GTP rocketships at Portland July 10-12/09.
Now you can come out west and do SOVREN at Pacific Raceways July 3-5/09, then Portland, then our own VRCBC HMR at Mission July 17-19/09.
Three great vintage weekends in a row - a great excuse to visit the Pacific NW at the same time.

Hey Robert,
We have been invited out to Portland by the Historic Trans Am & IMSA Group for next years races. We recently joined their organization the website is www.historictransamimsa.com
Our 2009 Schedule is already filing up, Amelia in March, The Mitty in May, The Festival & HSR The Glen in June, and we are hoping to be invited to Goodwood in July.
So not sure if Portland is possible yet, not to mention it would be a haul unless we did Monterey afterwards. But that all rides on going overseas or not.
Portland would be a blast after all it is one of the tracks the Big Cat won on in the 1981 T/A Season.

I'm just the paid shoe Al, you'd have to clear that with the Boss.
For some reason he wants to replace me with Danica Patrick, I cant see why. ;)

Steve,
I stopped by my local Chapter's and picked up the latest issue of Vintage Motorsports.
The feature of the Salon section is a sister car of the big cat. Not a bad read to boot.
Stay safe over the holiday season and we'll see you at Mosport next season.

I can't make the Mitty, but I do have a more general question about Road Atlanta. According to the website, State and Local law prohibits spectators from bringing in alcohol. Anybody know if this is really enforced?

Well we ended up not making it down to the Group 44 Display at the Amelia Island Concourse, too far of a haul given the display was a one day event. There will a Group 44 Reunion dinner thursday night, anyone who is attending the Mitty should go onto the www.grassrootsmotorsports.com/events/grmspeedfest/ site if they want tickets, there are a limited number still available. GRM & Classismotorsports are sponsoring the event and the Group 44 Reunion events. 43 days and counting!
Here's video of the Group 44 cars that did attend, enjoy :)
