hello. this goes out to the Vdubbers on the forum. pardon my ignorance, but do rims from the '00 golf/new beetle platform fit the '01 golf/new beetle platform? My buddy was told by the wizards at walmart that they would not fit the 15" steelies their guide said were for a 2001 new beetle on his 2000.

I told him that the platform was the same and there would be no issues.

any thoughts?

I'm not a VW expert but I did some research for my gf's Golf.

All the mkIV golf/beetle/jetta are 5x100 bolt pattern and I believe 57.1mm centrebore so they should fit unless they have some wacky offset.

The mkV went to 5x112.

i thought so...walmart automotive should stick to what they know...oil changes and wiper blade replacement.

thank you

99-05 Golf/ Jetta / Beetle share the same platform and suspension pieces, only reason the 15" wheels would be no go, if the Beetle or J/G would be upgraded with a larger brake package (280/288 (common TDi/2L/some 1.8Ts vs 312 (for 20th anniversary/ GLi and so on))

I once had a London tire dealer swear up and down that the 4-bolt wheels he ordered for my Honda Prelude would fit. I didn't actually point out that the Prelude was 5-bolt until after the installer had mounted all 4 tires and was trying to figure out why he couldn't get the studs to line up with the holes on the wheels. I'd learned years before that it was better to just let the sheep learn once the hard way, rather then to waste energy in slowly convincing them I knew what I was talking about. It is in the nature of any remotely skilled worker to assume that any particular person knows less then they do, because 90% of the time it's absolutely true.
