Decided to formalize a list of legal JDM/Euro engine/drivetrain swaps. Some competitors may not be aware of this significant change of the revised update/backdate rules for SP that allows engines/drivetrains swaps from the same chassis available worldwide. So anything JDM or Euro that was available in your bodystyle is a legal SP update/backdate. Therefore there are some very interesting combinations that can be built and be very competitive. This should also allow many potential competitors that would have been dumped into MOD to compete in SP with a much greater chance of success.

NOTE: This does not include full cars imported from other markets (e.g. rhd 240SX, Skylines, etc)

Here's a starter list, engine codes are listed, transmission/transaxle codes are not but of course are still swappable -- too many different codes to list here. I've only listed the more potent engines, lesser engines are legal too but does it really matter? i will update as more combos are posted. If there are any errors, let me know. Pete please review periodically to confirm the list is legal.

That's a fantastic list, this will certainly help the folks using JDM engines in the equivalent chassis. Of course that's a short list, there are "Subaru legacy's" that can now use the twin scroll and single scroll setups from Japan in the current chassis.

Awesome.

How many points would you claim with a swap without any mods? I don't see anywhere in the rulebook!

Trung, it's a free mod, no points. You just have to claim any points to mods you do to the swap(non oem exhaust etc.)

You will have to get the jdm 180sx classed to find out what class you can run in, in order to comply with the following(I hope it's DSP:) ):

10.9.7 Where engines are interchangeable between models, the vehicle on which the component is installed must now compete in the same class as the vehicle from which the component was taken.

So if my 180sx is in DSP, then I would start adding points ( up to 15) for mods that are not legal in SP? I don't see the 180sx listed anywhere in the book! I was expecting to be in MOD this year anyway but either way, more power, more grip, lighter, it will be fun!

A JDM 180SX would be in DSP as a north american spec 240sx can legally swap a jdm 180sx SR20DET engine and compete in DSP as it stands now. These 2 cars are mehcanically the same at this point other than the driver being on the opposite side. If anyone raises an objection to it being classed in DSP then this may change, BSP being the likely alternative (turbo Nissan Z cars all hang out in BSP, 180sx is similar concept vehicle)

In your case, as of now, you will be classed in DSP with a stock SR20DET swap with 0 points taken. Engine/boost/suspension/body mods will add points. Just make sure the SR20 u use comes from an S13 chassis.

Thanks for the confirmation...I'm sure objections will come if I, I mean if the car does well! At least it won't be about AWD anymore. Now where did Anna hide my Capital One credit card

Go for it! The 240SX/SR20DET combo was the 1st car i thought of when the rule change was discussed. I think it has the potential to be the fastest SP car out there and should give MOD cars a run for their money.

Added Legacy info, maybe you can fill in some of the gaps on the later model JDM swaps?
