Is anyone holding some SCCA-style rallycross events within a couple hours of London? My car is too clean, I want to get it dirty. :D

(Note: In SCCA, a "rallycross" is like a normal Solo-II held on mud or dirt. I don't know what the Canadian term is for this type of event, sorry.)

Last year there was a series held in Bancroft.

There was an attempt to hold this series again this year, but without enough interest it was cancelled before the first of 6 events.

Don't you guys read your club newsletters?

Flyers for this series should have been in each newsletter back in the spring. With your interest the series may not have died this year...

Everybody knew about the events, and everybody thought it was a good idea, but nobody was willing to drive to Bancroft. Our club doesn't have a news letter BTW, just a website. Jay didn't join the club until about the time this series was cancelled, so he didn't hear about it at meetings.

Yes, I know bancroft is the problem.
It's so far, especially for you guys in toronto or further west.

It would be very nice to find a place close to TO.

Well how about that, learn something new everyday.

Is MSOC affiliated with CASC-OR?

of course! ...or else my points wouldn't count in regionals. ;)

Ya, Bancroft is quite a haul from here... Maybe if I lived in the GTA I could do it but it's at least four hours drive even in good traffic. Something closer would be nice.

Then again I can't think of anywhere to hold one near here, since all the land is owned by farmers. Hmm.

CASC needs to buy a plot of land, pave half of it for solo II, and let the rest grow wild to be used for rallycross/rallysprint.

That would be so sweet.

Ideal would be an asphalt lake big enough for Solo-2 OR Solo-1. Ah to dream...

Well, if we impose a $5 surcharge at every CASC event, we could probably have something ready to go in about 50 years.
I hope I'm not in diapers then, so I might be able to enjoy it.

I'd be interested in this rally cross too. This is the first I've heard of it (tis my first year in the solo crowd though)

You may want to check out the Ontario Rally clubs out there. I recall one of the Kitchener clubs was doing some rally cross events 1 or 2 years ago.
Have a look at the CASC website for a list of clubs . It was either the GVCC or the KWRC that was involved, from memory.

Rally cross was quite popular in the Kitchener area in the mid eighties. I recall fields of 30 or more cars bouncing through gravels pits with wild abandon. I also recall that the suspensions had to be really strenthened to handle the pounding. Almost to the extent of a full blown rally car.

The series two years ago had events hosted by PMSC, MLRC and KWRC.
The same clubs were going to host the events this year, but didn't want to run the series without enough confirmed entries, we didn't get them so cancelled the series.
Two years ago there were all sorts of different cars, including a street driven WRX that rolled over at one event... That was still his fastest run of the day, he found a quicker way to take that corner it seems.
