That's excellent - but with those dates I'm just not going to be able to make it!:(
Everyone else will have to go and have fun driving AMP for me!

The same weekend as the ASN Autoslalom Championships....... [shakes head in total disbelief]
I can see competing sanctioning bodies hosting to massive weekends (well massive for our sport) on the same weekend competing against each other, but this is the same sanctioning body.....

Not as far as Calgary.
Or Saskatoon ;)

I would like to say the choise of weekends was wide open, but it wasn't. I know the Sept. long weekend doesn't work for everyone but it was the best we could do for this year. I'm sure anyone who does make the trip down will not be disappointed. AMP is a very technical and challenging track, not the longest in Canada but can be very exciting.

There's an ugly rumor that Brian is buying lobster.
Maybe it's ALAN that's buying the lobster, right Brian ?

And for anyone who is considering attending:
Like Brian said, AMP is a technical track... kind of like like Mt. Tremblant
and Mosport, but paved with cobblestones.
It is entertainingly bumpy.
With this in mind, some of us hospitible locals have reserved the track
for the Wed and Thurs immediately preceding the event. The cost will
depend upon numbers, but it will be very reasonable.
Anyone who shows up will get to practice their, um, tires off...

The plan is to have a good old fashion Maritime lobster dinner one of the nights.
Maybe I'm bias but I don't find the track as bumpy as Rob makes it out to be but then again it's definitely not glassy smooth either.
For anyone who comes down and has never been there before we will have some very good instructors available to help with track orientation plus as Rob mentioned the rack may be available on Wed and Thurs as well.

OH NO! Not Lobster!! ;) :D
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it either...and not because of the Lobster. I'm sure it'll be a good time as with anything out east!

Dang! I picked the wrong year to move to Vancouver! I'm from NS and it would have been fun to incorporate a vacation with a run at AMP!
Haven't been there for a while (only as a spectator), but I do recall it is not glassy-smooth, but not a disaster either.
Good luck with the event and hope some of you try to make it out there
PS: You're not supposed to entice them with lobster, but rather Halifax-style donairs!! :D

I'm considering it. I will be back east at least once this summer. I stopped by the track last year around labour day weekend and watched some regional racing. Track looks fun and challenging. Kind of narrow and bumpy but I would guess not much worse than Shannonville.
Now if only there was a rFactor model of the track released for us out of town guys to practice on :)

Another video of AMP for anyone interesed. This is not me, but is a very good example of how to go fast around AMP. Also shows some of the bumps in the track.

Thanks. I knew it existed but didn't realize it was available. Considering how this is described, I'll wait until I have time to play with it before asking for a copy.

That really too bad that the event is the same date as the CAC and the week leading into SCCA Nationals.
Sorry, but when having to choose between the three, I will go with the real Nationals.
I wish there would be more communication between sanctioning bodies, For someone who loves to travel and do many different events in the year, conflicting dates really suck.
Sorry I will have to pass- even though the lobster will be better than that of Lincoln!!

I like AMP, fun track and since I last drove on it (03 I think) I believe there's been some improvements too.
But yeah, long way to drive on a race suspension. :) Maybe Gord will let me drive his Miata. :p
Oh and conflicting with AutoX nationals is ... reallllly pathetic (sorry.. but it is)
